Purchased an 8 string Kamaka ukulele from Scotty's. Mike and Thomas were friendly, knowledgeable, engaging, and patient. We spent more than two hours in the store before settling on a choice.
I can honestly say I've never felt more at home or welcome in a business than at Scotty's. Not only did Mike listen to my concerns about fit, he also provided a wealth of resources oriented to my status as a rank beginner.
Frankly, if it weren't for the fact that I didn't live on Kauai, I'd absolutely want to become a regular here.

We are on a family vacation from Fort Worth. On our vacations, we each pick out a souvenir or two to remind us of our trip.I’ve always loved the sound of the ukelele. But I’m not a musician, per se. I played drums and percussion from 6th grade through my freshman year of college. I really haven’t picked up an instrument since then. I tried guitar once, but didn’t stick with it.Here on vacation, I kept thinking about ukelele. I felt like the Lord was saying “Go ahead. Get one”.I had several signs - both subtle and not so subtle.We stayed in Princeville and I visited a shop there. They had reasonable prices, but I didn’t feel connected. Great place with knowledgeable people. They were easy going and explained a lot. I picked up a ukulele but they have multiple instruments including Taylor guitars. Recommend stopping by.
