They have been closed recently every time I came DURING BUSINESS HOURS. No answer when I keep calling. No sign indicating if closed. THE DOOR IS LOCKED DURING BUSINESS HOURS. No sign if they are temporarily closed. I have no idea. I'm sorry but I was a loyal customer until now.

If you have a child under 5 years old, don’t waste your time to bring them here! I was disappointed in the customer service. I waited for an hour to get my son in. Right as we were getting situated in the chair I was told, “if he cries, I can’t cut his hair.” She didn't even try to make him feel comfortable, and it seemed like she didn’t want to help us anyway. My son has had many haircuts elsewhere and barber’s have always been able to do a phenomenal job. I guess not all barbers at this shop are experienced with small children??♀️.
Also, if you pull a number just make sure you stay close to the door. The first come first serve basis doesn’t work as well when they are busy. I understand they do their best when they are short staffed.

The good: The cheapest place to get a haircut in Kona that I've been able to find. I use the same stylist and get a pretty good cut. The bad: They don't take reservations. Apparently, our time doesn't matter to them. So, often the wait is over an hour long. They value their time but not the customer's. It's not like we have a life, plans or schedules! This weekend was unacceptable. Their listed hours for Friday and Saturday are 6:00 & 4:00 p.m. respectfully. Both days, they were closed more than an hour earlier. No signs to say their hours were adjusted. Just a "closed" sign on the door. I made four trips in two days for nothing. The first because the wait was absurd and the second, to find they closed early without notice. Extremely disappointed and shows a lacking of customer service.

Great barbershop! I’ve been going to owner Gaou for several years. She is very detailed & does a wonderful job cutting my hair! Jessie also cut my hair when Gaou was out & did a great job as well. Other barbers there also do great cuts.Aloha, Ray M

About 10 days ago I had a hair cut by the Hawaiian Native Lady, (first chair near entrance). I was her last customer of the day, she told one of the other barbers that she was tired and I would be her last of the day. This worried me a bit, but she went on to deliver on of the better cuts of my life. She communicated perfectly and with no additional directions as to how I wanted my hair cut, she did the job. I've had haircuts in 15 different states and in 6 different countries, non was better than the one I received at this Kona Shop. Keep up the good work, Skip from Waimea

After several years of good haircuts from any barber who calls my number, I got a rather bad haircut from a young lady barber who is new to me and not in the shop's website photo. Their "get the next barber" system brakes down when they inject a poor barber into the mix.
