I’ve been using the extra large washers that can fit up to 6 small loads. They’re very efficient! A full load costs $9.25 for an under 30 minute wash. The clothes do come out clean, but don’t over stuff the machine. I loosely fill until it’s almost full and put two laundry pods in the machine. It then took 24 minutes on high to dry. For every 3 minutes of drying you’re paying $0.25, so $2 to dry on high. I’ve also tried drying on medium heat, and the same size load will take double the time. The Laundry Mat is clean and maintained well. There are no broken machines. The reason why it get 2 stars, is because it uses a laundry card system. It forces you to load money on their card to pay for washing and drying. What seems like a convenience for the owner, is actually a frustrating experience for the customer. My card stops working after I load $12 on it. Now I lose $12 because there is no way of contacting the owner for a refund. Card just randomly stops working, machine decides to not read it, and card was not damage in any way. My story… I needed to do some laundry some place that had cleaner and more efficient washers & dryers than where I was staying. I found Kapahulu Xpress. The location is very well lit, clean, lots of seating to wait, & uses a convenient card system to pay with. I folded my laundry and left, forgetting to take my iPad that I brought to keep up with my work as a pilot. The next day as I retraced my steps frantically looking for it, I returned to ask if it had been found. It had because the people working there, while keeping the place tidy found it, kept it locked up, a refused to accept any reward other than my expression of gratitude and “Mahalo” as they returned...read full review
