I had a great experience at South Seas. I walked in and Lex was able to tattoo me the next day. I wanted to get a tattoo of a native bug species and she worked with me to pick out the Koa bug, endemic to Hawai’i. She was so kind to me and my family and I will never forget the experience.
My fiancee and I booked appointments for tattoos several months in advance, to get during our vacation. Their web form was easy and had good questions. We emailed and texted design ideas with our two selected artists, Dug and Mia. They were on time for our appointment at shop opening, and both had great designs ready for review that we approved on sight. Peaceful reassuring kindness in a clean and calm environment was the overall vibe. 10/10 would return and get more work from either Dug or Mia!
Messaged Doug on 12/8 about coming to Hilo in a couple weeks and some ideas I had for a tattoo to symbolize the personal work I had been doing. Had great communication through the entire process and booked a spot for the 23rd. Doug knocked it out of the park. As he showed me the tattoo and talked about the symbolism within, that related to my story, I got kind of emotional. He did an amazing job bringing my vision to life. The tattooing process itself was great. Clean shop, clean tattoo and Doug is a great conversationalist. Makes the time go quick.
