I’ve been dealing with a bad dental issue- a broken bridge- and constant back and forth between my dentist and the insurance company. Today I had a toothache and was worried about infection, and since my dentist was closed, I called Blue Creek because it’s close to my office. They got me in, treated me wonderfully, and managed to cement the bridge back in, something no one else had been able to do. Dr. Schaffer was honest with me re cost and wanted me to stick with my dentist and stick out the process with the insurance company, and now that I actually have front teeth again temporarily, I can! The hygienists are true pros and Dr. Schaeffer is great to work with. He is slow to recommend procedures that other dentists might justify as urgent but are not truly medically necessary. For example: I have a crown that needs to be replaced sometime in the future, but it is still functioning well. While some dentists would like the revenue, he is OK with "kicking that can down the road" until it is truly needed. As a 51-year-old, I appreciate that the longer I put off a crown replacement, the lower the chance that it will need to be done again in this lifetime. Our family of 5 has been going there for years. Highly recommend.
Dr. Schaffer is absolutely amazing. I have some dentist-phobia, and his compassionate care is truly top notch. The front desk staff.. not so much. Good luck getting a call back if you leave a message, for them to answer the phone on a Friday, or for them to update you on the status of anything. My suggestion is to keep calling until you reach a person, don’t leave a message, and to establish clear next steps on what is needed and who is accountable for calling back whom.
