They don't know what an ITIN is or what it is used for. The Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) and the Employer Identification Number (EIN) are not the same; they are distinct types of federal Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TINs) used for different purposes.

Ask for their fee upfront or prepared to get scammed. You’re better off going to Turbo tax or H&R Block. You’ll get the same result and save yourself a $250 preparers fee.
