104 Commerce St, Longwood“I love this place! After a lifetime of beach volleyball, surfing, windsurfing, paddling, et cetera, I had been struggling to make time and feign enthusiasm to get outside or into a tradition gym. Unfortunately but realistically, my fitness had really slipped the past few years, with lots of family and work obligations. Now, after 7 years here, I write this as a humble, enthused 54 year old. I’m thrilled to share that I have officially lost 15 pounds; moreover, I recently had the epiphany of contemplating where I would be today without ATT: +5 instead of -15 would put me at a +20 pound differential! And more importantly, my cardio, strength, flexibility, and attitude have vastly improved. As a testimony, I attend Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai (and a few MMA) classes 2 to 5 times per week, with occasional private lessons. The staff at ATT have moved the needle for me from a wee, unfit beginner to hopeful, energetic fanatic. If you have not had the pleasure of learning these sports, they are like a chess game with a lot of sweat and tears (surprisingly, not a lot of blood – ha!). Every day that I miss, I wonder what didn’t I learn. Every day that I attend, I leave the mat exhausted, invigorated, challenged, and intellectually stimulated. The coaches here are top-notch: to Jose, Joe, Cole, Donovan, J-Mac, Nick, and Josh, I say thank you for your patience, humor, persistence, and enthusiasm! I appreciate that you are clearly invested in my success. What may surprise you is the quality of rolling and sparring partners at American Top TEAM: they (and we) are amazingly friendly, where the daily goals are to push our skill sets, fitness, and collegiality forward, no matter where we are - beginner or pro. Have you ever rolled with a Pro or Amateur MMA fighter or boxer? Come on in, and be humbled in a respectful environment. For sure, this is a serious gym with serious athletes, and the rest of us are perfectly welcomed too, so long as your ego is checked at the mat. However, this isn't all about us. I am stoked to see so many children in the kids’ classes, boys and girls. They are learning about self-defense skills, respect for each other and their elders, grit and toughness, disappointment and recovery from mistakes, all in a super-friendly environment.Last, I appreciate the fair prices for great equipment.“

923 N Mills Ave, Orlando“Gracie Barra North Orlando isn't just a gym to me—it's a transformative haven that has profoundly shaped and enriched my life! Under the guidance of Professor Lawrence and the dedicated team of instructors, I've experienced profound personal growth and development. The community at Gracie Barra North Orlando is nothing short of amazing. It's more than just a collection of individuals; it's a tightly-knit family where camaraderie is prevalent. I've forged deep connections, especially with the incredible women who train here, and together, we've become a formidable force both on and off the mats. The support and encouragement we offer one another extend beyond the gym walls, making it a place where growth is not just encouraged but celebrated.Professor Lawrence's passion for teaching and commitment to each student's progress is truly inspiring. The quality of Jiu-Jitsu training here is exceptional. The techniques taught are comprehensive and effective, and the emphasis on fundamentals ensures a solid foundation for practitioners of all levels. Whenever I visit other academies, I'm consistently impressed by how our instructors' expertise is recognized and respected.Gracie Barra North Orlando has become my new love, my second home. It's where I feel most alive, most challenged, and most supported. For anyone seeking not just a place to train but a community to belong to, this is undoubtedly the best choice. I'm grateful for the positive impact it has had on my life, and I can't imagine my journey without it.“

72 E Main St, Apopka“This is more than a dojang, this is a family. When you are a member of this beautiful Tang Soo Do family, you are in the tremendously capable hands of Master Matthew Hutchinson as you learn the art of Tang Soo Do. If you have stumbles along the way, the support you will receive will make you want to work harder and push yourself to be better. This isn't just a martial arts class, many of the disciplines you learn apply to your entire life; don't be overly ambitious, honor friendship, and the fantastic anti-bullying skills taught to children. The love Master Hutchinson feels for all of his students is palpable and his never-ending patience has created a welcoming home to practitioners old and new.If you're looking for a strip mall karate place to take your money and just give over belts every color of the rainbow, move on. But if you want to join a community that instills respect and rewards hard work, you won't find a better place than Central Florida Tang Soo Do.Tang Soo!“

851 E State Rd 434 Suite 194, Longwood“Our two girls have been attending Hero Academy for about 6 months (in the Tigers and Little Heroes classes respectively). We wanted them involved in something that would make them feel strong and confident, and counteract the negative messages that girls receive about their bodies and being strong in general. The girls LOVE it. I’ve never had such an easy time getting them to an extracurricular activity- no grumbling, they’re always ready to go to karate. Sensei Michael is a dedicated and gifted teacher who cares deeply for his students and always engages with the parents as well. He creates a firm, structured but also super fun, caring and encouraging environment that has strengthened the confidence of both girls. It has been tough to get them there twice a week but it’s worth it!Here is what they had to say:From the 9 year old: you think about karate you might think of punching and kicking. But at Hero Academy we do a lot of fun games like ninja and samurai that help us learn. The more you learn, the better you will learn karate and other things you wouldn’t learn regularly. It’s a good way to push your limits and get out of your comfort zone- and it’s REALLY fun. From the 6 year old: Sensei is the nicest sensei I have heard of and he helps me learn in a happy way, not a sad and grumpy way. Karate just makes me strong. It makes me feel like a ninja. When I do karate, it feels like I’m doing something that fits right in to me and I fit right in.“
