year ago, I walked out of the doors of Northeast Florida State Hospital, and my life has never been the same since. When I first arrived, I was in one of the darkest places I’ve ever been in my life. I didn’t see much hope, and I didn’t know if I would ever feel better. But during my time there, something changed. Little by little, through the patience, care, and dedication of the staff, I began to heal.The staff there were absolutely incredible. My mother has been in this facility for over 6months she is bipolar and Schizophrenic. The medication they give her doesn't keep her level out she is always upset and angry. My mother was arrested in this facility with 3 battery charges. No case worker notified a family member about her arrested. We called because we haven't heard from her in a couple of day and found out she was arrested by another patient which I think is horrible. How can you arrested a mental ill patient that's admitted into you facility with 3 battery charges with a bond of $170,000 me and my siblings had to call arround in that county to find my mother. I was a patient here for 6 months in 2012. I'll never forget the terrible living conditions or the violence of the highly untrained staff. This place is a living nightmare and no human being should be exposed to it. The fact the facility is still up and running boggles my mind. I was fortunate to be released.
