I had originally made an appointment with one artist, but when I showed up, there may have been some miscommunication. At that point, I was getting ready to leave town, and if the tattoo was not getting done that day, I was leaving without it. Then a guy walked up and said, “I’ll sit you down right now and get it done so you don’t leave without what you want.” He told me he would draw it, put it on my arm, and make it as good as it could possibly be.
That guy turned out to be the owner, GP Tattoos.
We sat down, talked through the idea, and he quickly drew up an outline. I originally wanted Aramaic text, but he was honest with me and said he did not speak Aramaic. He explained that if a dot, vowel marker, or placement went wrong while wrapping around the arm, especially over time with fading, “King of Kings, Lord of Lords” could turn into something completely different. That honesty mattered. He could have just taken the money and done it, but instead he gave real guidance.
He sold me on keeping it in English, using words I could read, understand, and keep unified with the rest of the tattoo. That decision made the whole piece stronger.
The tattoo came out amazing. The price was reasonable, and the work was well above average. I am extremely happy with it and still show it off every day. Honestly, it is going to be hard for me not to come back and have the remaining gaps filled in to turn it into a full gauntlet — or maybe even come back for an entirely new sleeve on the other arm.
