We researched remodeling contractors for our Holmes Beach vacation home - and decided to go with Kern and Gilder Construction. What a great choice! We did a complete remodel - roof, plumbing, electrical, windows, kitchen, baths, etc. - and moved walls and pushed out the back of the house. The finished product greatly exceeded our expectations - and we could not be happier! We live in Michigan so it was critical we found a contractor we could trust and with considerable experience in construction and island FEMA restrictions - and to make critical and accurate decisions without us on-site. Between July 2021 and April 2022, Kern construction designed a remodel plan of my AMI beach bungalow. The internal home remodel including adding a bathroom, laundry closet and TV wall recess. This required removal of original 1965 concrete block walls, replacing wood stud walls, and installing plumbing and electrical systems. Drywall flow & texture blending was crucial as we created an open floor plan including replacing the front entrance door/frame. We recently hired Kern Construction for a project at our home that included the demolition of several walls, followed by the insulating, rebuilding and painting of those walls. This included installing wainscoting on each of the walls. We also had them take care of a couple of less involved things during this time as well.From the start, it was an excellent experience. We had a pretty strict timeline during which this project needed to be completed and it was ultimately completed a couple of days early.
