About Aikido of South Florida
Aikido of South Florida is a traditional Japanese martial art school founded over 30 years ago by Stephanie Yap Sensei, a 7th dan expert. The school offers classes for adults and children, as well as an exceptional after-school program and summer camps. As a long time on and off student of Aikido of South Florida, I'm very shocked at the recent string of 1-star reviews. I question the veracity of the reviews.
I find Aikido of South Florida very traditional and disciplined, which is what I looked for in a dojo. Sensei Stephanie is a very good instructor. She's tough, but patient and caring. She's very straight forward.
The dojo is very clean and has a great group of Aikidokas to work with. The BBQs were great. Aikidokas would come from around the world. That's a great testament to Sensei Stephanie's character.
I was tired of my usual gym routine. Even though I worked out regularly, I constantly felt stressed and was never able to find a true sense of calm. My doctor recommended trying martial arts, explaining that it could be both physically challenging and mentally relaxing.
