I needed a new primary care physician. I called on a Tuesday and had the new patient appointment on the following Friday so no real wait time. Parking lot leaves a lot to be desired. I was checked in timely and waited maybe 15 minutes in the room for the actual physician after the MA created my chart. The MD came in and was all business and no real bedside manner. I was thinking to myself okay this won't be good. My perception of the physician changed by the end. She was thorough and by the end of the appointment I felt differently about her. She warmed up and was much more cordial. I was overdue for lots of labs, mammogram and the works. In my initial patient appointment, she set up all my labs including hormone testing, referred for the mammogram, ordered Cologuard and set me up for overdue vaccinations. My follow up appointment for the physical was way out like 6 weeks so that was disappointing. The next day I received the call to set up the mammogram and that was quick. Going for my labs in the morning. I received the email to register for the health portal and the link failed. This was due to the staff entering my name incorrectly. I called and they corrected it immediately and sent me a new link. So, no issue with having that corrected timely. All in all, I would rate my first appointment as a 4. Could have been better with not needing a first appointment to begin care prior to getting an appointment for a physical. The doc made up for this by immediately ordering all the labs and such prior to the appointment for the physical. I chose SiMED because they have all the clinics in one building even an urgent care. This works for me, so I am giving them a shot. As far as the doc being a little standoff ish at first. They see 100's of patients so maybe we should give them a hot minute to warm up to us as new patients. If you think about it are we always immediately friendly to new folks that we meet?
Dr. Scott is a fine, kind, and great doctor.
