In April of 2016, Mario informed my husband and I that we would owe money in our taxes. He requested some additional paperwork, but assured us that he would file an extension to avoid any penalties. In September, I received a notice with a bill for the taxes I owed, plus almost $600 in penalties. When I informed Mario of this, he claimed that he did NOT file the extension and that he would not respond for any of the claims. The IRS agent told me that the owed taxes were a given, but the penalties would have been avoided with Mario following through with filing the extension paperwork. Mario refused to address this issue. He hung up the phone when I tried to explain what the IRS had told me and never offered any type of resolution to his mistake.
