What a miserable way to pretend you have money.Checking in took 2 hours. You can't park without paying. You literally wait on line to wait on line.Charged for room 'keys'.The elevator is a nightmare. 20 minutes to get down. Worse during busy hours.Hidden fees EVEYWHERE. PAID a resort fee, for the pool to be closed and the spa over booked. Paid extra money; to not get service.Pay for beach towels. If you bring them to your room and put them in your laundry you won't get a refund.The restaurant is BAD. Over cooked. Expensive.
We were so disappointed this stay. This was our fourth stay and absolute worst. We loved the Plaza from our first visit and said we would be back every year for our anniversary. When we arrived we were told the king bed oceanfront room we reserved 6 months prior wasn't available yet but just to wait 30-45 minutes and it would be ready. We went to the bar for a bit and when we came back we were told the room wasn't available at all and we had to settle for a double bed partial view. They still weren't doing daily housekeeping siting COVID precautions for the reason but my guess is that it was more due to short staff which everyone is suffering with right now. Decided to spend the Georgia/Florida football anniversary weekend at the plaza. It was a nice overnight stay. Kudos to the cleaning staff, because the room was immaculate. I'm a stickler about clean corners and they passed with flying colors. Unfortunately the hotel suffered damage from hurricane Ian and I couldn't get my beach front room, but the beach view room was nice also, in some ways even better, because you had a partial view of the beach and a view of the avenue in front of the hotel. All in all it was a good time. I would definitely revisit. These are some shots from my 6th floor balcony.
