Heads up family and friends. If any of you are a customer of Horizon Services, beware, and be alert. Last Friday I had them out again to have my furnace cleaned and tuned up for the winter season. To my surprise, the Horizon technician performing said cleaning and tune up advised me that I have a crack in my heat exchanger and it could be very dangerous to operate any longer, and deadly carbon monoxide is probably leaking into my home........ His company rule was to turn my furnace off completely, which he took a video of himself doing it. He informed me that if i decided to turn it back on after he left that Horizon could not be held responsible for any damages. I paid him the $59 special to complete the task and he said we will send you the quote for a new heat exchanger today, and that I shouldn't waste any time scheduling the repair ASAP. Now if my furnace was probably leaking deady gases into my home, why would you only turn off the emergency switch mounted on the heater. Why wouldn't you turn the gas valve off also? he was barely backed out of my driveway when I received an email from Horizon with my quote for $3500.00 to do the repair, and several pictures of the crack, or, I coild pay $12-$15,000 to replace the whole furnace. The part would have to be ordered so it should be ok to run the furnace until then. Wait, What?? Where will the deadly gasses go if I decide to run the furnace until the parts come in. So I was not happy about the new found crack and the thought of having to spend $3500.00 for a repair on a furnace that runs very well and efficient. I immediately called Hentkowski Heating and Cooling for a second opinion. I sent them the pictures that the Horizon tech sent me along with all the meter readings. The tech came over on Monday morning and spent over an hour looking for this "crack" in my heat exchanger and was not able to find anything. He even commented how good the furnace was running and firing well. Thank you Hentkowski Heating for being honest and not trying to take advantage of people like the BIG BOYS do. You have a customer for life with me, and I'll be sure to inform all my neighbors also.
Our air conditioner suddenly stopped working on Saturday and I called Hentkowski after doing everything I could think of to do on Sunday. Bill answered the phone, He scheduled a time a few hours later on Sunday to come out and work on the unit. He was very attentive and explained everything he was working on. The issue ended up being an electrical problem which he was able to correct and my system works fine. Within a few hours of calling him we had cool air again and all on a Sunday! I was very happy with his service and professionalism!
