Mount Olivet Cemetery is a cemetery on a hill with views. Walk to the top and spin around. You'll see the U.S. Capitol and Washington Monument in one direction and Ivy City and the Basilica in another. It's breathtaking. Beyond the views there's much to see and experience at this historic cemetery. First of all, it's the oldest Catholic cemetery in the city. Secondly, it's the final resting place of people who served in politics, but also assassins and spies. Randomly, the first person to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge is buried here too. After you pay your respects, walk to either Mother Rucker's for subs or over to Ivy City for the breweries and distilleries.
