My family has had consistently happy with service the Wallingford CT location. Good product selection and knowledgeable staff. Outstanding effort by Melinda tailoring progressive lens specifications to my usage and final fitting of frames!

First time in 62 years that I needed glasses, so on my wife’s recommendation I decided to use Americas Best. She has always gone to the Waterbury store, but because of time restraints I wasn’t able to get an appointment there and made one here instead. The eye exam was good, but after that it was all downhill. When I sat down to choose which type of lenses I needed I explained that I would need something for driving day and night as I am a truck driver. I knew nothing about glasses so I was going on their “expertise” on what was best. She sold me on a Drivewear lens that she said would transition to all kinds of different shades for day, night, and even rain. I thought that would be great! Picked up the glasses 2 weeks later and when they took them out of the drawer to give them to me, they were dark like sunglasses. Didn’t think anything about it and wore them when I left. Later that day, the sun went down, I didn’t see any difference in the lenses. Called a couple days later and explained my situation to the woman on the phone and she said that maybe they weren’t activated at the store. No problem as I needed to come back and pick up my second pair of glasses anyway. When I got to the store I explained my situation to another woman, who took them out of glasses to some kind of light at the front of the store and then came back and said “they’re transitioning”. I never saw it. She then proceeded to ask me no less then 3 times in our conversation of 15 minutes, if I ever had different types of lenses after I told her I NEVER had glasses before. I left there totally aggravated and was done with Americas Best. After my wife’s convincing I decided to stop at the Waterbury store and give it another chance, so glad I did! Turns out the Drivewear lens doesn’t transition for nighttime. They basically sold me sunglasses. Jesenia explained to me everything about transition glasses and set me up for a new pair of what I actually needed and discounted them for my troubles. She also gave me the Oakley case that I was supposed to receive with my original pair. My advice: Take the ride to Waterbury or some other store. Totally Incompetent at this one!,

I have been going to these guys for about two years and I have bought 4 pairs of prescription glasses in different styles and I have had two examinations and I must stay the customer service from everyone is excellent, I wish every place I do business with was like this. Great job and thank you.

Top to bottom i had a lovely experience at this location. Every staff member i interacted with was kind, pleasent and professional. The staff manipulating the equipment during the pre exam and exam itself were efficient, offering clear instructions at all times. The doctor, seen over video call was focused and present and offered more information and insight into what she was measuring amd looking at and how those values translated to my vision. The selection of frames available ranged through a number of price points with a significant range of stylistic choices available. I plan to use this business for my yearly eye exams going forward and despite this location being a half hour drive with multiple closer locations my experiences with the staff on site will have me coming back again due to their dedication to providing welcoming and considerate care. If you are in the market for an eye doctor I cannot reccomend highly enough that you give americas best a try.

My wife had an eye exam. Her Rx went up (expecting it). She was sold on contacts as they paid more from insurance for them and only cover frames. She wears both so... they fit her (for a fee) for contacts send her on her way. The contacts are awful. She can read great, but driving home was blurry. She called, went back for second exam. Was told there is no contacts Rx that can fix the range She needs. If that was the case why did they even offer it as an option? I know why. The fitting fee of $80 is not refundable. So don't fall for the trap. Ask first if your Rx can even be compatible with contacts. Would not recommend. Shame the staff up front is nice, ok selection, I blame the Dr and the incentives to push contacts instead of the patients needs.

The exam that I get is so complete and comprehensive! I really feel like they know my eyes and explain all so I understand. I would highly recommend America's Best to everyone. Everyone is friendly and helpful.
