If you’re looking for a great BJJ gym with no corporate, money-first vibe, a real family atmosphere, open mat every day, and an awesome coach with a very solid curriculum, check out PMA.

I moved to Connecticut about 8 months ago and tried four different BJJ gyms around the area.

PMA is easily the best one. The environment, the coaching, and the culture are exactly what I was looking for.

Plainville Martial Arts has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. Coach Greg Woods runs a structured, professional program where you can feel real progression instead of just showing up and rolling. The instruction is technical, the environment is competitive but respectful, and everyone pushes each other to get better without ego. Since starting at PMA, I’ve improved not only my jiu-jitsu but also my conditioning, composure under pressure, and overall confidence. If you want disciplined training, real accountability, and a coach who genuinely cares about your development, this is the place to be.

I cannot recommend Plainville Martial Arts highly enough! The sense of community here is truly special, making it a welcoming place for both kids and parents. The facility is clean, spacious, and well-maintained, creating an ideal environment for learning.

One of the highlights is the character development program implemented by Greg, the owner. It's remarkable to see how my child has learned and grown in such a short time. She is incredibly engaged and always eager to come back for more classes.

Overall, the positive atmosphere and effective teaching style make this a fantastic place for martial arts training. Highly recommended!
