There are just too many awesome things to say. From the very first consultation to the very last touch our time with Kitchens By Bruce was exceptional. We had suffered through other remodeling work in the house that had left us anxious about undertaking a big demo/remodel. Bruce, Laura, Paul and the whole crew were prompt, professional, caring and thoughtful. When I started making lists and timelines, they said, no need to worry, you will have a day by day plan. I was in heaven! When they say they will arrive, there are there five minutes early. When they say it will take a half hour it takes 25. Bruce and Paul (and their teams) are more dogged about the work they do for you than you would be yourself. Their work is impeccable. All of the staff and subs are professional and courteous. They are creative, caring and kind. You know you're working with someone special when you go and pick our your stuff and each supplier said, "Oh, Kitchens by Bruce? Yeah, they do excellent work!" We could't be happier with the exceptional work they did for us and helping make our dream and vision a reality. They completely transformed our 54 year old home to modern open concept. They are for real and I can't wait to work with them in the future!
My wife and I had the opportunity to work with the Kitchens By Bruce team last October 2019. We had them do an extensive first floor kitchen remodel and garage conversion into a family room. I would like to take some time to highlight some of the positives and negatives of our experience. The beginning of the project started off by meeting with Laura who is responsible for the design of the project. She is very good at what she does and takes the time to take measurements and goes over in detail the types of design options that are possible. She and her design team seem very experienced and came up with a great design for our project. One piece of advice for future clients would be to take time and go out to their design studio to discuss options as we did everything through phone and email. There were a few minor details that we would have changed in retrospect that I think would have been sorted out had we had time to get out there. After the design was created we had the opportunity to meet with Bruce who came out to verify the design, and make sure that everything was possible. At that point he finalized the quote, and discussed any unforeseen hurdles. He was very knowledgeable and we could tell he has been doing this for a while. When the start of the project got closer their project manager Paul introduced himself and went over all of the details which are also nicely laid out on Buildertrend. They use this program to communicate the timeline which is extremely helpful. Because of the scope of our project they used a number of sub contractors that I will discuss in more detail. Electric is performed by Gotier Electric. He and his team did a fantastic job, and accommodated all of our requests for lighting and outlet placement. His plumbing, heating/cooling contractor, Danny, did a great job as well, and we are happy with the way everything turned out. One minor complaint was that some of the old plumbing that no longer works was left in the ceiling of the basement which I will have to remove at some point. Ideally it would have been nice had those been removed. Windows, doors, and siding was done by CD Builders. Doug and his team were fantastic, and he did a great job explaining all of our options. His team does great work. Some windows came damaged, but they went above and beyond to correct everything and make it look great. The drywall and insulation were also subcontracted out and turned out great as well. Unfortunately, while these contractors were fantastic, I can not say anything positive about the flooring subcontractor(Brothers Home Improvement) that Bruce used for the job. They were an absolute nightmare. First, when they delivered the flooring to the house they left our 6’ french door wide open with the lights on. By some luck I happened to stop over at the house at 10 PM and thankfully realized this. The doors had most likely been open for hours, and would have been open for a whole weekend had I not stopped over. After they started, I received a phone call from Bruce within hours of their first day on the job that there was a “problem.” I was told that they would be unable to weave the kitchen and dining room floors together and that they would have to rip out the kitchen floor In order to tie everything in. This change order was going to cost an extra $2000. We decided to move forward with the change order after being reassured that if we did this it would look “perfect,” and the floors would all tie in nicely and look seamless. After they installed the new floor, they went ahead and sanded and put the first coat on the floor. It was at this time that I got a text from Bruce letting me know that they had broken two windows in our side door as well as a stair bannister. Needless to say we weren’t happy, but Bruce was willing to fix it. After The first coat went on my wife and I noticed a number of black marks in the floor. We pointed all of them out to Bruce and asked that they be removed. Bruce took pictures and spoke to the flooring contractor who said they would fix it. Once the cabinets and all t
