My husband and I went to Kristen Cecere to have our taxes done a few years back and chose her because she is an EA. I explained to her that our sale of stock had produced paperwork that was in error and included the purchase value of our stock in the investment profit total. She just could not get it, even though now she claims she did. We are not the ones who were uncooperative. She never asked us to get the paperwork corrected. She just kept telling us we were wrong. I've never met anyone who wouldn't listen to their client and tell them they were wrong without looking into it. This error would have cost us a ton of money because we would have to pay taxes on the entire amount, including the money we invested, but she just couldn't understand. We met with her and she brought in a guy to listen and he was never introduced to us. No, she never introduced him, even though she claims she did. We had no idea why he was there, but in the end I was thankful, in that this guy understood what I was explaining, even though Kristen still did not. My husband and I went home debating what to do. That evening we received an email from Kristen saying she did not want to work with us and to pick up our papers. I think she did that because she was embarrassed she didn't understand. I came away from this experience finding she didn't know how to work with clients, didn't know enough about taxes, felt like she could include strangers in our initial meeting without telling us who and why, and in the end was rude too. Others need to be warned. You can see by her rebuttal below that she needs to work on her people skills.

We went to Kristen because she seemed to have good reviews and we needed a tax person who knew her stuff. We normally do our own taxes but had a very confusing tax year after selling my mom's assets and decided to seek help. The one thing we do know ourselves is how to figure capital gains on stock sold, but Kristen wanted to argue with us about it. We told her the paperwork we got was incorrect, but she continued to assume WE were the ones who were wrong. This would have cost us many hundreds of dollars if we had done it incorrectly her way. When we met with her about it, she brought in a guy to the meeting and never introduced him. He ended up being the one out of the two of them who understood what we were saying. Kristen never admitted she was wrong, even though three of us understood the situation and she did not. After the meeting we thought about what to do. We couldn't have her do our taxes if she insisted we do it her way. Fortunately she decided we weren't a good fit as clients and asked us to find someone else. Take my advice and stay away from her. She was wrong, and never wanted to admit it. We found another tax person that year and not only did she take the time to understand the situation and do it the right way, but also ended up saving us thousands of dollars on another part of our taxes. I have always wondered if Kristen would have even come up with those same savings. Kristen is a one person tax office and doesn't have coworkers to share and learn from (even if she ever admitted she didn't know it all).

Have used Cecere Assoc. for 25 years, first when they were located in VT, and still use them now that they're in CO. They have always been prompt, courteous and professional. And their rates are reasonable and well worth not having the aggravation of trying to do the taxes myself. Would HIGHLY recommend to anyone looking for expert tax preparers.

I don't ever write revirws, but Cecere did an awesome job with my taxes this year. I called super late in the season, they got me in that week. The first appointment took 30 minutes, and within a week or two I was able to pickup my statements and get them explained to me. Very nice people and will definitely go back next year. Cost me much less than what I thought it would.
