“We recently had our old roof torn off and replaced by Heber roofing. We knew there was a lot of damage underneath that would need to be repaired. Jamie was very communicative and kept us up-to-date throughout the process. Her team was very nice and worked hard over the course of the week handling all necessary repairs. The worksite was left relatively clean at the end of each day considering all of the repairs needed and Jamie was again great following up after the job was complete. Pricing was on par and in line with the other quotes I received.“

“My 93-year-old dad hired Stars & Stripes Roofing to replace the roof on a double wide mobile home in Santa Cruz, CA because they had done several homes' roofs in the retirement park where Dad lives. My daughter got six price quotes. Their quote of $14,000 was not the lowest but within range of others (lowest was $11,000; highest was $16,900) but this quote included contingencies like replacing plywood (five sheets replaced) & adding two new vents. The lower quotes would have gone up with "extras" so my daughter preferred the "locked in price". He seems to know what is required to be within code & to be covered by supplier warranty. The roofing supply place (Landmark Solaris) hires them for repairs too he said. They started work 07/03/23, took 07/04 holiday off, & finished on 07/06. They arrived promptly around 8 am I think. Javier "Jay" did not require payment until they were done; e-mailed invoice. He came inside to explain what they found & fixed. My dad's prior roof was only 20 years old so that had not been a good investment but was only $2,000 back then. They were on the 2nd day working at a place kitty corner to my dad's when I left 07/20/23. The owner, John, parked his truck in the carport across the street & was observing. He seemed very impressed & thanked us for recommending them (John had to get $1,000 down payment back from another contractor he had initially hired that quoted significantly more). Roof labor costs over three times what it would cost in Wisconsin but Stars & Stripes Roofing is competitively priced with their local competitors. I cannot attest to how it holds up in weather yet but will update if there is anything to report. Dad's place gets very strong winds that shreds fabric canopies & leaves them dangling on the frame & blows a lot of debree through a chain link fenced (I covered it with a privacy screen fabric while I was there). There is not near enough rain usually but it does fall fast & furious sometimes.“

“I used Daniel for gutter cleaning. Daniel was very prompt in getting back to me with a quote and even followed up with me after not hearing from me (had some other things pop up). Scheduled a time and he showed up and did a great job unclogging many years worth of gutter "stuff", including gathering the mess, bagging it and putting it my trash bin, and washing all the affected surfaces. He also pointed out a few potential trouble spots to look out for in the future. Would use Daniel again before the next rainy season hits.“

“I used Knowlton Construction after the Loma Prieta earthquake to do some major repair work to my other house. When our upstairs bathroom shower started leaking I searched for contractors and I was surprised Bill was still at it. He submitted a reasonable estimate in a timely manner. We had them upgrade the shower, replace the tile floor, add a vent and electrical outlet for the bidet. Positives: the project turned out very well. The plumbing and tile subcontractors did great work. His lead man, Patrick was competent (although a bit grumpy). Criticisms: Communication on the scheduling could have been much better, it took 5 months for completion, prices on change orders were not give, so I was surprised about some of the charges. It was taking so long, I actually did the finish plumbing, cleaning and touch up myself. I understand this was in the midst of the pandemic and Bill had some health and family issues, but that's a long time without the bathroom.Service: Bathroom remodeling“
