The manager refuses to replace air conditioner in the wall. The air conditioner is too small for for wall opening. Hot air flows back inside apartment. Offered to caulk gaps that are 6 inches surrounding the air conditioner.
I have spent the last 5 years in Los Angeles and have lived in 2 MRC properties. As I move back to the east coast I would be remiss to not mention the amazing experience this was. From the owner to the on site management, I don’t think it can get much better. Thank you guys for making my tenure in Los Angeles feel like home!
Whatever you do, do not live at 6615 Lash Lane Apartment 1! Beware of Metro Realty Center. If Brenda is the Wicked Witch of the West, Chuck is Oz behind the curtain pulling levers. I got stuck living here and it was an actual nightmare. In the very beginning it started with a leak in the downstairs ceiling from the upstairs bathroom. After having to reach out to Brenda and MRC continuously they sent their maintenance guys who caulked the side of the shower and said it was from "water dripping on the floor when getting out." When the problem persisted I had to reach out several more times and threaten to report them to the city for hazardous living conditions since mold was starting to form in the ceiling. They sent their maintenance guys yet again who did nothing but caulk the shower AGAIN. MRC absolutely refused to bring in an actual plumber to fix the issue. They eventually cut a hole into the ceiling where the mold was forming and put a square plastic box to fill it and called it a day. They then tried to charge us $100 for the fix. The leak is still an issue to this day. After this we had another leak in two of the upstairs bedrooms from rain and all they did was eventually paint over it. They said they wouldn't come fix it until after the rain stopped so we legit had rain coming into our house for over two months. I've included a letter here of them saying they wouldn't fix it while it was raining even though it rained for over two months on and off. This also happened to be the time when our heat stopped working. The first guy they sent to fix it told us we would need a new unit. MRC sent them 5 MORE TIMES just to make sure that the unit would have to be completely replaced, leaving us without heat for over a month when our house was freezing from rain coming into it. They clearly put it off because Chuck is a cheap schmuck and Brenda is his protector. The laundry room continuously wreaks a foul sewage smell into the house since it is underneath the apartment. We have had to report the issue at least 3 times and every time it is "fixed" it eventually comes back. This of course only happens when the washer and dryer are working. They were out of service for months at a time on and off until they were finally replaced. It is a common pattern with MRC to hold off on fixing something unless they absolutely have to. What do ya know, that once they were replaced the washer stopped working in the middle of washing one of my loads of laundry and was filled to the brim with water. My clothes got completely ruined because the dryer went out at the same time. I couldn't even hang my clothes to dry properly because they were sopping wet. I tried squeezing out whatever water I could myself for over an hour but most of my clothes got damaged. When one of my roommates moved out they refused to remove him from the lease. I sent them my updated bank statements and pay stubs to show that I alone made 3x the rent, combined with my other roommate over 5x the rent and they still refused to take the roommate that left off the lease. We even tried to swap in another guy to replace him on the lease, but they would not accept him. Finally, when I tried to move out of the apartment they refused to give the new apartment I was applying to information that I was a good tenant in a timely manner so I ended up almost losing out on the place I really wanted. I personally called Brenda and told her that it was okay for them to give my information to the owner of the new place and that he was on the other line ready to call. She rudely informed me that he would have to fill out a formal permissions form first and she wouldn't be able to get back to him that day even though I was on the phone with her literally giving her PERMISSION. Brenda also told us if we wanted to move out on the 1st of the month we would have to pay an extra day of rent even though we originally moved in on the 1st of the month which makes no sense.
