The studio is also popular for social dance nights on Fridays and Saturdays, making it a fun place to dance and improve skills. With its top-notch teachers and positive vibe, Hollywood Academy of Dance is considered one of the best dance studios in Van Nuys, praised for its results and welcoming community.
Great location to go dancing. Social events Friday and Saturday night, with a half hour dance class before the social.
Private lessons, and group lessons are also available.
The Hollywood Academy of Dance in Van Nuys is a solid, reliable venue for Argentine tango. The building shows its age—plain facade, drywall, some worn corners, and bathrooms that are small—but the floor is exceptional. Smooth, even, responsive. It’s easily one of the best dance floors in the LA area, especially for social tango.
For years, this was the home of Milonga Gavito, organized by Dennis and Tanya. It was a mainstay of the Los Angeles tango community, drawing dancers from across the city. Though the milonga has since moved to another location, the studio remains an excellent choice for practicas, workshops, or new events.
