i've been coming here for about 20 years. and yes, i admit i've had a few affairs over the past two decades, but i've always returned to faithful ms. amy. amy is the owner and sole stylist, but you'll often see her mother helping out around the shop, sweeping up hair, straightening the magazines, and offering customers snacks. with all the parking restrictions (due to the close proximity of the roadium&& el camino college), you are not allowed to park on the street on weekdays. just park in the driveway. it's cool. a cut will run you about $30 (before tip), but this includes a wash, a cut, && a blow out. no matter what, MAKE SURE YOU BRING A PICTURE of the style you want, because even though her skills are great, it's hard to translate words into a perfectly crafted coif. the real reason i keep coming here is because she does the chemical straight perming. i've tried it at other places, but it never comes out as pin straight as when amy does it. now one thing you need to know about me is that i have some crazzy, hard-to-tame, fubu hair. with a straight iron at home, it takes me about 45 minutes to straighten my hair...but with 6 hours (on average) to chemically straighten my (just-below-the-shoulders length) hair, it's totally worth it! it lasts 6 months to a year depending on the rate of growth. (a straight perm sets me back around $200 (before tip), but that's a discounted price since i've been getting my hair permed every year to twice a year since high school. i'm not sure how much it runs normally.) there's no frills or fancy accommodations at this place, but you'll get the hair style you wanted.
