About Black Dog Yoga
Black Dog Yoga is an independent studio established in 2002 and located in Studio City, California. The studio offers a variety of yoga styles including hatha, vinyasa flow, restorative yoga, yin yoga, and gentle yoga. Black Dog Yoga provides both in-person and online classes, as well as a teacher training program and workshops. The studio is described as clean, friendly, and peaceful. They also have a co-owned space called Yoga Vibe in Los Feliz. While some students praise the studio's atmosphere and instructors, others have expressed negative feedback about specific classes. Some find the pace of certain classes too fast, making it difficult to keep up with the flow and breathwork. There are also concerns about the clarity of instructions in some restorative yoga classes, with some instructors receiving criticism for their teaching style.
Very nice studio and people. The space is small than what is shown in photos. Teachers are lovely and classes I took were all level and very easy to follow. Receptionist was very welcoming and informative. I look forward to going back. Studio does provide bolsters, blocks, and knee pads.
I've meant to post this review a while ago... Most classes are 75-90 minutes, there's only one class that's short and it's 55 minutes. Yoga for Beginners with Niki S. was very relaxing and stretching. Even though I booked through ClassPass. They were saying that I owe, then I said this is what I pay ClassPass for. Another girl was having the same exact problem but this was the second time she encountered this problem. They let us take the class and figured it out. Turns out the guy wasn't listening when we said ClassPass because there's a different way to check people in. It was such a good beginners class, I signed up for 2 weeks for the $30. They also have 30 days for $60. Restorative with Melissa is highly recommended. I want to just keep taking her class to ingrain in my brain how to position my body when I am just chilling at home. Usually heated yoga gives me something to sweat about. This is not heated yoga and the basic class with Barbara made me sweat because I have NO balance I tell you! So embarrassing I'm always the wobbliest one in the room. If you look at me, you'll probably lose your balance too. I have no balance, so for me, class is moderately difficult even though it's a beginner or basic class. Parking is ample and free!
This was one of my first in person yoga studios I went to post-Covid. I felt so safe and welcomed here. Bonnie and Sigrid are incredibly knowledgeable and funny. They make yoga fun and easy (but never too easy! Lol) the studio is small but very cozy. They offer tons of classes, which I find uncommon. Love this place!
