I cannot say enough good things about this salon. Ian and everyone else working there was so welcoming. Ian made me feel so comfortable to express how I wanted my hair cut and the overall style and look. He is so knowledgeable and really helped me dial in on what products will work best for my hair. I wish I lived here but I would fly in just to get my hair cut by Ian again! I forgot to get a before picture 🤦🏼♀️ The after pic speaks for itself though!

I am not the biggest review writer but felt my experience here was worthy. I randomly walked into So Curl Hair by Ian Skolnik while visiting Carlsbad. I spontaneously decided to get a haircut. I was greeted by Amy who couldn’t have been nicer. Alexia Delayed her lunch to cut my hair. I am pleased I walked in. I am so happy with my haircut (in fact my favorite haircut in a long time). I will definitely be going back next time I am in the area. I would most definitely recommend them!

I found Mady @madybrighthair through an Instagram ad and was a little nervous at first, but after one session she did what three other stylists couldn’t. I’m a dark brunette who has always wanted to go blonde, and after spending over $1,100 at two different salons with disappointing results, I finally got exactly what I wanted with Mady—at a fraction of the price.
On my first visit she made me noticeably more blonde than anyone else had, and on my second visit she pulled off what I thought was impossible: an overall blonde look with depth from my natural color, plus sun-kissed highlights that frame my face perfectly. For the first time ever, I have that sunkissed blonde look that actually suits my dark base—and it looks amazing.

Ian is a brilliant stylist with an abundance of knowledge on all things curly. His creative direction and open personality allow for an inviting, educational, and personalized experience. I went in for a curly cut as a first time client, and right away, Ian saw the vision I had in mind. Not only did he help me realize the vision in a heart beat, but he explained every step of the process and gave me 30 years of knowledge in just one 90 minute session. From start to finish, the experience was well rounded, information dense, and unbelievably rewarding. If you are having a hard time justifying the cost, the investment into your hair knowledge alone is worth it, and you'll leave feeling better & smarter than ever. Not to mention, the team at Socurl was incredibly warm and hospitable, with obvious experience. Very grateful for the experience, and I will be back.

Ian at SoCurl is absolutely amazing! I just got one of the best haircuts of my life. Ian really took the time to understand what I wanted—and somehow gave me a look that feels fresh, flattering, and totally me. He’s not only incredibly skilled with scissors, but also warm, intuitive, and fun to talk to. The whole experience felt relaxed and uplifting from start to finish. Not one to really go out and spend money on a haircut but Ian and his staff are AMAZING. Ive been dealing with flat curly hair and curls that just wouldnt hold and Ian was able to bring my hair back to life. Staff were super friendly and Ian is a sweetheart. I highly recommend those considering to visit, their process for cuts and styles is thorough and you wont be disappointed!
