I came to Color Café for a Mom’s Night Out event with my mom. The studio is really cute and the staff were friendly. The marketing manager there was great. She was very warm, checked in with guests throughout the night, and helped create a fun, welcoming atmosphere.
That said, the pricing felt a bit high, especially for adults who want to paint pieces they’d actually use at home. My mom and I felt pretty limited in what we could choose, and we ended up only painting one piece each even though we originally thought we might do more. If there had been a few more reasonably priced options, we probably would have painted additional pieces.
We were also chatting with two elderly women picking pottery near us who mentioned they felt the same way regarding prices and budget. There also weren’t many pottery options geared toward adults. A lot of the shelves were filled with holiday-themed items, which made the selection feel limited if you’re looking for everyday pieces like mugs, bowls, home decor, or kitchen accessories.
Overall the environment was welcoming and we still had a nice time, but I do wish there were more reasonably priced options and more pottery geared toward adults.

We went to Color Café hoping to do a fun pottery painting activity. It was me, my two daughters, my granddaughter, and me, and we were excited to try something new.
Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing.
• No blank items to paint – Every plate, cup, or bowl already had a printed design on it. We were hoping to paint something ourselves, but there were no blank options available.
• Limited inventory – The selection was very small, and it seemed like the blank pieces might have been saved for a party of 20 that was coming in later.
• Not very helpful service – The staff wasn’t very welcoming or helpful when we asked about options.
• Pricing – There is a $10 studio fee per painter, and many of the stamped platters were about $42 more, which felt expensive for items we couldn’t really customize.
Since there were no blank pieces to paint, we ended up leaving without doing anything.
We were trying something different from Color Me Mine, but unfortunately this visit didn’t work out for us.

Great experience! Came to make my son a first birthday plate and Leann was amazingly helpful and attentive! Super sweet environment and fun activity. Would go back again.

Super cute cafe that had a lot of options for pottery pieces! Works for almost any age.
The way tables are set up allows privacy and the explanation she gave as to how to make the pottery was awesome. Please be warned not to mix the undercoats with the other kind of glaze - we are glad our owner caught us before we were about to make a mistake. She also gave us tracing paper which helped me a lot with my project.
Would go again.

Color Café (formerly As You Wish), located in Simi Valley Town Center, is a bright, welcoming studio where creativity truly comes to life. You pick a pottery piece, paint away with provided supplies, and they glaze and fire it for pickup—usually within a week or two . They even offer a Family Fun Pass and waive the studio fee for kids under two—pretty sweet perks for parents .
My toddlers absolutely love it here. It’s the kind of place where they can get messy, express themselves, and walk away proud of their little masterpieces. Just a note: it’s more of a hands-on art studio than a hang-out spot—there’s no coffee bar, bottled water, or seating area for grabbing a quick snack. I really wish they had a water dispenser or even a little café setup or coffee machine—it would make those painting sessions even more relaxing for the grown-ups!
All in all, Color Café is a delightful creative escape—perfect for toddlers and families—just bring your own refreshments and a playful spirit.

We went to Color Café on Mother's Day weekend and had a very pleasant experience! We did have to ask some questions and get clarity on the process. The staff, while reserved, are comfortable answering questions when approached.
It was really interesting to see how deeply focused people get when working on their pieces—I think we all need creative activities like this to get away from the daily grind!
There were also about 20 children having a birthday party at the same time! While there was a bunch of energy in the room it was still comfortable.
Unfortunately, as of right now, both of the kilns are down for repairs, so we are having to wait beyond the typical one week to get our finished pieces (I believe we were told it'd be 2-3 weeks from the one week we originally expected). Not sure what level of backup exists at the moment, but it's important for customers to be aware of this.
RECOMMENDATION: Call ahead and see what the wait will be in your case if you are reading this review in May/June of 2025.
AFTER we get our pieces back I'll consider posting again on the final experience and the quality of the ceramics with potential pictures, etc.

Went for a company team building function, not the best experience unfortunately. Young lady there quickly went through instructions and retreated to the back area making herself scarce. None of us had done this before or been there, we will not be going back. When we asked for further instructions regarding anything, all she did was point and explain any charges. We made the best of the situation, but this was not a good impression.
