Our pool pump motor stopped running mid-season and when I checked the dedicated pool sub panel I found the 20-amp pump circuit breaker had welded itself in the closed position — it would not trip under any condition, which meant the motor had been running without overcurrent protection for an unknown period before it finally burned out.
