The commercial electrician crew arrived on the hour with the necessary large equipment to replace the broken down parts and restore electricity without disrupting customers. Another client’s UV unit had issues with the ballasts causing harmonic currents and tripping exposure relays; the electrician advised fitting a harmonic rated breaker, and the unit has run without tripping for four months. Our silk screen exposure machine would trip the breaker lock a minute early, and we would need to manually reset it, agreeing that this machine must have had a built-in set timer…and it did, in fact, have a built in set timer, as the minute is exactly right all the time…14 minutes into each exposure cycle, and you need to reset it. The electrician found that the ballasts that power the UV unit were causing these problems, due to harmonic currents and advised fitting a harmonic rated breaker – our UV unit is now running without its exposure relays tripping once in the four months since we installed it.
