Deborah has been hand stripping our Norwich Terrier for the last five years. I was desperate to find a new groomer after a bad experience when Gus was a puppy. After extensive research, I was lucky to come across Kent's Kanines. Deborah and I had a long phone conversation regarding Gus's first grooming experience where the groomer had muzzled Gus. He was traumatized. Deborah's approach to Gus was measured, calm and comforting. He was a little wonky on the table at first, but after a few grooming sessions, he figured it out, with Deborah's guidance. Gus looks forward to Deborah's visits, which really says a lot. We appreciate her patience and skill with Gus. We LOVE that she comes to our home. Deborah has been grooming my dog for several years now and has always been excellent. She has many many years of experience and it shows in her work and care. I first sought her out because I needed someone skilled in handstripping -- a skill that most commercial groomers don't have. Furthermore, my dog is quite anxious and does not do well in a loud commercial setting. She is able to handle my dog's peculiarities and accommodates his needs by grooming him at-home and with me present. I highly recommend her if your dog requires more attention because of their temperament or anxiety -- she will know how to handle them with care.
The Michelangelo of Groomers - What can I say? I believe we have the very best groomer here in San Francisco!!!! We first met Deborah Kent when Bella joined our family soon after the start of the pandemic. At five months, Bella was a cute little Yorkie, just under four pounds and full of energy. Unfortunately, she was also a bundle of hair, matted to the point that neither a comb nor a brush would untangle it. So, we searched for an experienced groomer who could help us with the problem. We found Debbie through her website www.kentskanines.com; when she visited our home and saw Bella's tangle of hair, she recommended starting with two sessions so as to not overwhelm our puppy. We understood the wisdom in that suggestion and so Debbie spent that first session with Bella in her lap as she performed the de-matting process, all the while talking quietly and soothingly to her. She also asked us to sit with them, not only so that Bella would feel more comfortable but also so she could teach us how to groom Bella, which was something we had not been at all successful in doing. And, during that two hour session, Debbie's expertise, professionalism and devotion to her work quickly became apparent to us. Debbie returned the next day to introduce Bella to the bathing and haircut process. At first, Bella tried to resist but she soon learned to be comfortable as Debbie worked and that has been the case ever since. Now, Debbie visits our house every six weeks and, due to how expertly she introduced Bella to grooming, Bella is now a pro at standing patiently on the grooming table. We are beyond pleased that we found Debbie at Kent's Kanines; as I said at the beginning, she is the Michelangelo of groomers and the reason why people often comment on how beautiful Bella's coat of hair is and how cute she looks!
