The barbers are spectacular, with one noted as absolutely one of the best if not the best in the city, known for a spectacular fade, a lot of precision, and skill with Asian hair and bigger beards. The shop itself is a sick new place in a nice little pocket of good vibes and clean cuts. The vibe is right and super chill, with a great location one block in from Valencia. It is a quick walk or bike from BART and MUNI, and parking is pretty easy. The team takes pride in its skill and knowledge in men’s hairstyling and fashion, always attentive and spending the right amount of time with clients. Jacey Chavez (JC) is hands down one of the best barbers I’ve ever had. Every time I sit in his chair, I know I’m leaving with a perfect haircut. He’s consistent, detailed, and really understands how to make a cut look clean, sharp, and natural.
What I appreciate most is that he doesn’t just rush through the appointment. He takes his time, pays attention to the little details, and makes sure everything is exactly right before I walk out. The fade, the shape, the line-up, the overall finish — always on point.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve walked by Hillside Neighbor’s barbershop and what I saw, impressed me so on a recent morning, I walked in to inquire about making an appointment. Gary, one of the barbers was just sweeping up for his next client and while the average age of most of their customers were significantly younger than myself, he graciously took my contact information and fortunately, he had a recent cancellation so he offered me a time later that afternoon. The service is beyond the beyond of what it means to be a business. These are great people who love to connect with not only the people but the community and on top of it all, they are really great craftsmen. I've been getting my haircut by JC for over a decade now. I've seen Nick's and company's quality; and they really do it all. The best approach is to set up an appointment but can always have the gamble of a walk-in. They are very cool folks and receptive to your feedback. Let them know exactly what you want and if it isn't met, they will work with you to get it done right.
