Dr.Hewes provided exceptional care and attention to our senior dog with cancer, by taking the time to understand the questions to which the answers we were looking for. She understood and respected our objective in taking the most ethical and educated decision for our girl guided by science. She took the time and effort to help us understand the CT scan preliminary findings in great depth, we were full of questions and she patiently answered all of them without dismissing perhaps even the most ignorant of our questions. They went out of the way in expediting our full & final interpreted CT report (Thank you Dr.Wallack) since we needed the report before an oncologist consult the next day, to be able to have a meaningful data-driven discussion on her disease (cancer) extent. Dr.Hewes followed up proactively with us over phone promptly the next day to double check if we had any lingering or newer questions after having received the final detailed CT report. We were greatly touched by the compassion she showed by treating our dog as an individual to be given a fair chance through in-depth diagnostics, without prejudice about her seniority or age.

Able to accommodate imaging without whole day pet drop off, prices on the high end, service mostly professional with some blind spots

I’m a veterinarian myself and Dr Hewes treated my cat. The experience was first rate and she was amazing, attentive, thorough, and very compassionate. I would recommend them to anyone who needs i131 for their cat

I couldn’t be more grateful for the care Dr. James gave to my cat, Bane. From the moment we walked in, he was calm, compassionate, and incredibly thorough. Bane can be a bit anxious during vet visits, but Dr. James handled him with such gentleness and patience that it made the entire experience so much easier for both of us.

He explained every part of the exam clearly, answered all of my questions, and made sure I felt informed and reassured. It’s not always easy to find a vet who combines clinical expertise with genuine kindness , but Dr. James does exactly that. Thanks again James !

Highly recommend. Recommended by two local surgeons for CT SCAN of our French bulldog’s head. Arrived at 8:45am and picked up our 🐶 within two hours. No issues. The front office staff are very professional and accommodating. The Vet (fellow) walked us through the entire process.

This review is long overdue. I first took one of our cats to VICSD back in November of 2009 to be treated for hypothyroidism. Our beloved d'Artagnan (15) had been losing weight and getting super skinny. They treated him with a radioactive iodine I-131 injection and he improved rapidly after that. He managed to make it to age 17 before we lost him to intestinal lymphoma, but I never thanked VICSD back then for giving us those extra two years with him. Fast forward to 2023, they treated our cat Batman (age 10) in March for the same condition. Batman was impossible to medicate (it's a 3-person effort just to get him in a cat carrier), so twice-daily thyroid medications were never an option for him. He is a totally different cat now - still hard to get him into a cat carrier but he is mellower and looks so much healthier. He was down to skin and bones before his treatment.Today (November 10) we just brought home Calvin (age 12). Calvin is a big cat, he was 23 lbs at his heaviest. We have been dealing with some other health issues with Calvin this year so I delayed treating him for hypothyroid (discovered early in the year, same time as Batman) because his levels weren't as severe and he needed to lose some weight anyway. Now he is 16 lbs and just finished up his 5-day stint at VICSD. He is glad to be home and we are so happy to have our big lovable boy back! Looking forward to hopefully a healthy and happy future with him. Thank you to Dr. Christina Hewes and all of the staff there for taking such good care of our pets. We appreciated the daily updates and being able to see him on the Cat Cam so much.

My cat had an ultrasound at this place and when I called them to discuss the results they refused to let me talk to the vet who had performed the procedure. I believe I should have had that right since I was trying to decide whether to euthanize my baby based mostly on that information. They were not at all empathetic which was disappointing.

Sad to say that I have little good to say about this place. They did an ultrasound on my kitty who was suspected of having intestinal cancer. My vet told me based on the test that it was very likely he had late stage cancer. I called VICSD to hopefully discuss the results and was not allowed to talk to the vet who performed the test or any doctor there . I was making decisions on whether to euthanize my cat and they had no compassion or empathy of my situation! Never again......
