I know this is odd to rate a military medical facility but I have to recognize the great people at NMCSD Anesthesiology. I was getting a procedure done which was delayed and as I was waiting in pre-op, I was growing more anxious. LCDR Mayra Monarrez RNAP arrived and she was so upbeat and friendly, yet professional. I immediately felt more comfortable. I told her jokingly that I was going to give the treatment so far 2 stars and she went along with this, insuring I got another set of warm sheets. She told me everything that would happen on her part during the procedure. I have had prior experiences with NMCSD Anesthesiology and all have been favorable,. This one was just special as it really help me cope with the anxiety I felt.

This place is normally pretty good, but tonight sucked. The doctor I had was trash talking me because I didn't want him doing my pelvic exam and it hurt his feelings. Thank you to the coworker who had to tell him not to take it personally because I might have trauma. After I asked for a female, he didn't introduce himself and didn't come to check on me at all...the girl who did my pelvic exam did. I'm sorry I offended you by being an actual victim of SA. When I was finally being discharged, the nurse came in and yanked the needle out so hard it BENT IT after ripping off the bandage holding the IV in place. She didn't say sorry and didn't warn me. She was SO sweet to the guys next to me, so it made me feel like a pile of crap. I am already depressed and still healing from previous traumas, I don't need a doctor crap talking me and sending his nurse in to physically hurt me and not be empathetic towards me at all. I loved the female doctor and the guy who did my ultrasound upstairs. Both of them made me feel comfortable and not a waste of space. If you're going to talk about me, maybe don't do it in the middle of the ER. I have exceptional hearing and it really made me hesitant to talk to anyone without crying or apologizing. I'm honestly scared to ever ask for a female doctor again because this has brought up feelings I thought I had healed from, but haven't. Overall, I only come here because I can't go anywhere else without paying out of pocket. I'm still crying from this visit and I'm not sure I trust doctors at all now.

As a patient and staff member I am proud to be affiliated with NMCSD! No place I'd rather take my family and I love recommending our service to others.

0/10. Do not recommend. Not to work, and definitely not to get care. The ER is never manned and you just sit there for hours at a time!

my husband had a back issue that would make him for over 5 years hurt tremendously. Dr/ Lcdr Lawless did a laminectomy, a minimal invasive procedure surgery. After 2 weeks my husband started noticing 50% reduction on back pain, and after 1 month he has made 80% recovery and pain is minimal now. Dr./Lcdr Lawless patiently answered all of our 100 questions and was very thorough Thank you Dr. Lawless for blessing us with such carefully scheduled laminectomy. My husband is enjoying life again with very minimal manageable pain. God bless you dr./ Cdr Lawless, M.

Pharmacy is horror. Takes loooooonnnggg to get ur prescription even you input the order while still being seen by the doctor. Why???? No matter where you go takes up alll ur time. To many window but nobody is there. They should use the military personnel's again like before. This is sooo waste of time. Right at this moment people are lined up.. and nobody is opening another window to help people. I was at the line waiting to be called took about 5-10 minutes to realize that someone at number 12 is seating not calling me. Like don't they like their job or just to lazy to work? 3:13pm when I input my prescription and until now no call txt or anything..

The new Pharmacy system is very clunky and not user-friendly. After a visit to your provider, you need to text a number to get-in-line and able to enter the prescription medicine you need. The Navy is trying to reduce the traffic in their Pharmacy but in doing so created much more problem to their customers. My wife had to go to the Pharmacy 3 times to get some new medicine for my son. Still, she was unable to get everything the doctor had prescribed. The person at the desk was of no help at all. They kept insisting that she was not using the system properly. I have served in the Navy for 20 years and this is what I get. I very annoying system and very crude used of an amazing electronic technology. I am sure I am not the only one getting this type of treatment. How in the world the Navy cannot follow what Sharp or Scripps is doing. Their system is so easy. Just show up to CVS, almost no line at all and get your medicine so fast. This is another way the Navy is screwing their Retirees!! Fernando Ong

I'd rather pay for my medication outside rather than waiting for more than 3 hours inside the Naval Medical Center Pharmacy for new and refill medications.
