Wow. ...and I'm not easily wowwed. It's on a bit of a busy street. Cars pass by fast, so I've probably driven or rode by dozens of times without noticing it, but what a gem. I searched online for a while looking at ratings. I was on my bike though and they were far away. I was familiar with the Gentlemans franchise, so Gentlemanss with 2 S's had me instantly intrigued. The moment I walked past the entrance, Was it the decor, the lighting, the open floor plan...I don't know. It may have been that Andrew and Uriah (like the Hittite) have such a chill and confident demeanor, but I felt something. I'll try to explain. It was like getting to meet your anesthesiologist, and just knowing you're in the best possible hands. Does that make sense? These cats were sporting hair that GQ wishes they had. I had come in for a major overhaul on my head. I had been growing out my hair and beard for almost 2 years preparing for this moment. It really helped to be able to point to Andrew's beard and say "That's it!". "That's what I want". So, they let me bring my bike in which was cool of them. I had called them from the road to check closing time and availability (close at 6). I arrived at 4:35 or so. Then the sheep shearing began. I kick myself for not having a before picture. Just think ZZ Top. So I couldn't help but notice that they had a glass door fridge stocked with serious beer. Being a bit of a connoisseur and former brewer I was impressed and asked to purchase one. "No no. Complimentary to our guests" they say. "I have found my people" I'm thinking. Check the photo. Uriah is the barber version of Michaelangelo on the left. I really felt like the statue of David being hewn out of a shapeless marble. What do you think of my after picture? So not only is my stylist working on my hair, but Andrew is also assisting like a surveyor on a precision construction process. These dudes run a tight ship! Dad was Navy so ship-shape has real meaning for me, and applied here. Poignant that their location is right in front of the exit to liberty station (with abundant parking...and a free putting green just a frisbee-throws distance from their front door). Next time I'm bringing my clubs and making a day of it. A big job; It took a while. It was 6:35 when I left. A real bargain for the time spent.
I came to this establishment because another barber from another location did not give me the haircut I asked for. When I came to Gentlemens barbershop, Andrew was very helpful with problem and provided excellent service at a reasonable time. I would definitely recommend anyone to Andrew as other have done for me this morning at liberty station food market!
Lou was incredible! Our young son was afraid of clippers and nervous about the process, but Lou was patient, kind and kept our son feeling at ease. With each step, he let him know what he was doing and tried to make it fun.
Very satisfied and grateful customer!
