    Wanted to do something different. Here lies some of the famous admirals who served the Pacific Theater, some WW2 German and Italian POWs who were captured in the N. African campaign and imprisoned in California and Idaho, victims of the Port Chicago explosion, and a number of medal of honor recipients (Reinhardt Keppler WW2, served the USS San Francisco).

    On this coming 4th of July, I reflect on how much has been lost and gained in the United States, and so I sit and reflect at the places that mean so much to me.

    Coming from a military family, I hope the lessons learned make us pause and think.
    So here we stand, my wife and I in the middle of the golden gate national cemetery.

    Here we visit, and we ponder the course of this nation. We visit what I call the "brass ridge". Here there are so many generals and admirals buried here, but not forgotten.     Beautiful place. No pets allowed. Went here with our dog because we couldn’t find any info on if it was allowed, but this sign was at the front saying no pets (and no recreation / jogging / biking).
