My intention was to upgrade my Father's headstone and Ruhkala Monument Company made that happen! Ruhkala Monument Company has knowledgeable employees with high level communication skills who, with dignity and grace, will gently guide you in finding exactly what you need when the time arrives to lay your loved one to rest. My entire experience with Ruhkala from beginning to end was first class. Having never ordered a headstone for a cemetery plot, it was a definite learning curve. I have two very special people to thank for their extensive knowledge and assistance during this complicated and intricate process. Christy and Marisol. I worked with both women to design the perfect headstone for my Father. Neither one ever lost patience with my many different ideas of what I thought would best represent my Dad. In addition, they both provided invaluable input to help me with the many decisions I needed to make along the way. Low key, no pressure, and with genuine and sincere sensitivity and humanity. At the conclusion of it all, I was extremely happy with the incredible tribute of which my Dad would love and be so proud. From the permanent military emblem inlaid into the granite to all his dogs' and cats' names etched on the back. I know he is resting peacefully and in good company with his animal family close by. This company has been serving our Community for over 100 years. My dad and I are very grateful for the excellence, professionalism, and caring attitude at Ruhkala Monument. A longtime business of over 100 years across from the old city (Masonic) cemetery, this business offers multiple options at many different price points and customization options for a gravestone/memorial monument. I visited two times on my own and was ably helped by Christy D. Christy was so kind and patient and gave me estimates for a custom headstone as well as a couple of other stock/standard headstones. It was a struggle at the time trying to get everyone's input in the family and I got overwhelmed trying to make the ultimate decision. The third time my Dad came with me to an appointment and we were finally ready to commit and make a decision. We were able to choose a custom bronze monument and I chose a blue granite base that we found out weighed 2 tons (yes, it was the most expensive option and I was not surprised, I make a beeline for the best). Christy was familiar with the guidelines at the cemetery where mom is buried. She spent a lot of time building us a template and then had a photo proof for approval via email shortly after. She even noted a discrepancy that I had missed and made sure everything was exactly as we wanted. Christy's kindness, patience, sensitivity, and detail-oriented business acumen was so exceptional. We will never forget her wonderful approach to this challenging work. We were consistently updated via email regarding the order and when the monument was installed. Payment for our custom stone was required in full once final approval was made. Note, it took 5 months from ordering to completion but it was completed a month earlier than the initial six month estimate. We chose a photo for the monument as well as an inset vase for flowers. In the end, I'm glad I visited another monument company and decided without hesitation to return to Ruhkala. My dad and I could not be more pleased with the outcome, the professionalism, and the beauty of the final product that will stand as a tribute and memorial to my mom's life. The Broadway location, although a small corner lot adjacent to Midtown Sacramento (on the same side of street/ across from Sellands) has extensive examples of headstones both inside and outside to look at in person, in addition to thick photo albums displaying a catalogue of installed monuments. Prices are as low as $900 for a simple recessed monument to I would imagine no limit based on what is desired. There is also a larger showroom in Rocklin. From what I understand Ruhkala has a granite quarry in Rocklin as well and they provide many of the stones to other local monument companies.
