About Lotus Root
Lotus Root offers a delightful European dining experience. The French onion soup is praised for its exceptional flavor, often surpassing some Parisian versions. Other menu highlights include the quiche Lorraine, known for its flaky crust and creamy filling, and the deviled eggs. Customers have found it to be one of the better brunch spots, appreciating the good quality and service without the frills. Although the croque monsieur could benefit from thicker bread, the overall ambiance and welcoming service create a pleasant and stylish dining atmosphere. Recent diners have enjoyed dishes such as duck, gnocchi, salmon, and fillet, all seasoned perfectly to be interesting and flavorful. The restaurant's quiet environment enhances the experience, making it a hidden gem that guests look forward to returning to, especially for special occasions like brunch or a show downtown.
Honestly, this place feels like a hidden gem. I am a local and happened to come across them by chance. Food was great! One of the better brunch spots I've been to. Good quality and service without the frills. Will be going back.
We had dinner at 4pm, so it was very quiet and mostly empty. The service was outstanding and the food was excellent. There were seven of us and we ordered the duck, the gnocchi, the salmon, the onion soup, and the fillet and all were delicious. Each dish was seasoned perfectly to be interesting and flavorful, but not strange. A very nice dinner in a pleasant, stylish ambiance.
Our Sunday brunch was excellent! I was surprised by how quiet the restaurant was. We had to wait a little too long for service but the server (when he got there) was very pleasant and efficient. I can be pretty fussy over eggs benedict but mine was exceptional. The others in our small group were similarly thrilled with their meals. We're looking forward to visiting again the next time we're downtown for a show.
