I had the pleasure of working with Lori at California Wood Floors on a recent project. She went above and beyond to coordinate installation on a tight deadline, and her team delivered exceptional craftsmanship. The attention to detail was evident throughout, and the final result exceeded expectations. I look forward to working with Lori again on future projects.

Fantastic work on a difficult job. Careful and clean. Skilled and knowledgeable. Sometimes a bit sluggish on communications. Trustworthy to get the job done right at a fair price.

To the Brothers: I don't know you but, I truly admire everything you do for, and with, your employees; I recently heard all about your company and how caring you are with your employees, how you do the best to take care of them and, although you may have hit hard times, did your best to keep them employed. You should know that your employees, at least the employee I spoke with, always does quality work which reflects in the most positive way for California Wood Floors. Employees in this day and age are, unfortunately, just a number which is a shame; California Wood Floors takes me back to my introduction to employment, in the late 60's, where everyone was treated closer to family. BRAVO TO CALIFORNIA WOOD FLOORS

We initially met with Josue, one of the company foremen, to discuss our ideas for what work we wanted done and what materials we were thinking of using. Josue provided us with samples and we settled on pre-finished Brazilian Teak. There was a subsequent delay in follow-up due to some miscommunication but then we met with Kevin Hussey, one of the owners, who apologized for the mix-up and answered our remaining questions. The company provided pre-finished flooring and baseboards, removed old carpeting and pads, old wood floor, old ceramic tile and linoleum, hauled away old materials, leveled all sub-floors that needed it, installed new wood floors, transitions and baseboards in 8 rooms and all hallways. Work began on schedule and we found the installers to be very competent, professional and easy to deal with. They told us what they were doing at each step of the process and discussed possible issues as they occurred; for example, they found evidence of an old water spot on the sub-flooring in a bedroom, told us they would replace that section of sub-flooring and advised us to check for possible exterior leaks before the next rainy season started. As the work progressed, any concerns we had (which, in all cases, were minor) were promptly addressed. The work took a few days longer than expected, due to what appeared to be some conflict with other jobs, but we never got the sense that the crew was rushing to finish our job by taking shortcuts so that they could move on to another job. The finished job is gorgeous and, quite literally, makes us feel like we are living in a brand new house. The workmanship is superior and we are completely satisfied with the finished product. If not for the fact that we replaced all of the floors in our house that could use a wood floor on this project, we would definitely use this company in the future. We recommend them without reservation to anyone considering installing wood floors in their home or business.

I would actually give them a 2.5. As per the other reviewer communication are sometimes terrible. I felt I was the project manager on the job. Sometimes I would never know when they were showing up,and when there were problems I never had an owner come out to check on it. In fact for the entire project ,which was close to $20,000.00 I never had one visit. I did not even get a call when it was completed to see if everything was alright . I did receive an email with exclamations marks saying my bill was past due. I had never however even received a final statement much less a final walk though with the owner. Part of my house is fabulous. The other unfortunately does not look quite like the first as they took the original worker away and had some else distress the floors. I had mentioned this, and thought it was going to be fixed. It was not however and even though in the end the worker tried to fix it,it didn't. I also still have issues with another area. The workers are very nice however and clean and tidy up. So I would recommend them if you really want to be on top of the job all the time yourself.

Beware of promises not kept. I hired California Wood Floors as Liam seemed experienced and knowledgeable. He walked my 80 year old floors and he told me he could match the existing color to the new kitchen / office install and didn't have any scheduling conflicts. Both statements were untrue. I chose his company based on his ability to work with my schedule and the fact that he was familiar with old hardwood flooring. The house was vacant and yet the job took over a month with more than 30 phone calls on my part and calling in a middle person (friend of Liam's) to try to make my job a priority and not use it as a "filler job". His bid was the highest of the 5 I got, and I hired him because of a referral and I wanted high quality work in a timely fashion. I have no complaints about the install or finish work done.....just trying to communicate, schedule and the fact that I was not advised of stain matching issues up front. There was also an add on charge for more repairs than stated on the original bid. Since Liam walked the existing floors with me I feel he should have noted them and included all repairs in the proposal. The install work and finish work are good.....stain match not perfect.....if you like to make tons of phone calls to make sure the company you hired remembers that they are working for you.....this is the company for you....I advise all clients to get his promises in writing and get your schedule in writing....I trusted his word and regret hiring this company.

Over promise, under deliver...I would not hire them again and I would not recommend them to a friend. They say all of the right things in the sales process. We went with them despite their price being higher than competing bidders. The actual install process has included missed deadline after missed deadline, broken promise after broken promise. When we've called to try to get the project on track, neither owner will return calls. The guys who actually do the work are very pleasant - I hope they find jobs elsewhere because they deserve better.

California Wood Floors recently installed and finished the floors in our home in Woodside. We couldn't be happier with with the value, service and quality. Liam was very communicative and helpful and Kevin attention to detail was superb! As a cabinet maker and designer, I have extremely high expectations for quality and these guys are the best!

Liam and Kevin Hussey run a topnotch wood flooring operation. CWF were not the least expensive bidder, but I they turned out to be the best overall. We've built 3 homes in the last three years and found CWF to be by far the best for quality, artistic capability, speed and value/$. Their team is experienced and consists of qualified craftsmen. We had a particularly large and difficult installation requiring some tricky engineering - but they were pro's and executed the task like clockwork. Liam and Kevin (owners) were very easy to work with throughout. Compared to most other parts of our project, their work was like a breath of fresh air! We'll use them again.
