I am so glad that my daughter is able to go to this Boys and Girls Club program. They are ALWAYS doing fun little activities. They recently did a craft with an egg basket or something and my daughter spent the whole weekend recreating the craft because she had so much fun. The staff is helpful and communicative, and I feel that they genuinely care about my daughter. I have peace of mind knowing that my daughter is in their care until I get off work. Also, they recently installed doors that require the staff to buzz parents in, so I feel an added layer of safety knowing they take protecting the children entrusted in their care very seriously. Definitely keep this program in consideration when searching for an enriching, caring and safe after-school/summer program.
I had a great experience with the kids here in Poway. Coloring and crafts with the younger children and school work with the older kids. They weren't only nice, they were appreciative of the help I gave them. Some of the math we had to struggle through together, boy has it changed but it was a great experience for me and I think I was able to add something for the children.
I almost made the mistake of not sending my son to this Boys & Girls Club based on the negative reviews. My son asked his classmate how he liked going here. His response was "it's awesome!". So, we checked it out. The first thing that stood out is that Ms J'Nesse, whose desk faces the entryway, is a military combat veteran. If anyone is able to keep these kids safe, I feel that she is beyond capable. My son has so much fun here. I'm very grateful that we took a chance on it. I don't know of any other AFFORDABLE, quality, safe after school and summer programs in Poway...unless you want your child outside the entire day in the 100 degree scorching summer sun.
