I honestly cannot recommend Excel Jiu-Jitsu enough. Before finding this academy, I had attempted to learn Jiu-Jitsu at a school overseas, and it was a difficult experience. Their approach was overly complicated and lacked thorough instruction; it often felt less like a learning environment and more like a place where others were just looking to take out their frustrations on you.
After a friend encouraged me to try Excel, I was cautiously optimistic, but to my wonderful surprise, the experience has been night-and-day different. From the moment I stepped onto the mats, I felt like I was learning alongside a team that truly feels like family.

If you want world class instruction and a safe space for your kids to train, EXCEL is the place to go! Professor Michio has mentored me from the beginning and it’s been a honor being under his wing. Not only do they offer bjj but they also offer MMA which Professor Djavan, Lauren and coach RJ teach beautifully(and also compete). This gym also probably offers the best pricing you can get in the area! Everybody here is super nice and friendly, a mix of hobbyists and hard competitors ! So if you want to pick up a hobby or sharpen your toolset at a more than reasonable price, this is the place to be.
I’ve been training Jiu-Jitsu for over 15 years, and this academy is truly the best I’ve ever trained at. Professor Michio provides world-class instruction, and all of the other professors and instructors are amazing as well. The 6 am class is fantastic, the academy atmosphere is welcoming and motivating, and the value is outstanding—the cost compared to the level of instruction is truly impressive. I can’t recommend this academy highly enough.
