I went to OAEC for a staff retreat that my work booked. We were one of the only groups staying there not including the regular staff and residents there.We had a really good experiene there, with very great meeting spaces with good wifi, as well as different spaces for hiking.We had the meals made in their kitchen, which was prepared using eggs, fruits and vegetables that are produced there which were very fresh. They also had some homemade breads including gluten free options.One first day there, the staff gave us a tour of the grounds including the gardens where you can pick all the plants, fruits, veggies and herbs that aren't already listed "NOT TO PICK". THis place is incredible!! Wednesday volunteer days are an amazing chance to come visit and see the grounds, and get a super tasty vegan lunch. They also have their annual plant sale with super healthy plants of all kinds, including some really rare species and variety. The staff is very welcoming, and the architecture alone makes the visit worthwhile. Be sure to check out the pond as well!

I love getting plants here! They have a great selection of hard to find medicinals, delicious perennial food crops, and unique culinary herbs. Also the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Can’t wait to go back!!!

Occidental Arts and Ecology Center is an 80-acre educational retreat center, farm, community, and ecological preserve in West Sonoma County, California that has been helping to build the capacity of social and environmental organizations since 1994. OAEC has a diverse and interrelated suite of programs in research, demonstration, education, and advocacy, and hosts strategic meetings for social and environmental justice organizations and leaders. The lovingly-tended land acts as a classroom and cultural center. Our Mother Garden Nursery is open seasonally April - October, Saturdays & Sundays 10am-5pm. Note: the main OAEC is closed to the public except for scheduled tours and events. No drop in visitors.
