I have had horrible experiences with multiple doctors in multiple cities since being a mother. We have been coming here for two years and everyone is always AMAZING. it's no words to express how grateful I am to this hospital but I will try to. :) I really appreciate that everyone in this hospital treats you like they actually love their job. No one is in a rush and everyone listens to whatever you have to say. They treat you like you matter and child does. They never treat me less than or as if I don't know what I'm talking about like a lot of doctors do. I've experienced multiple doctors from here and everyone is fantastic. Dr Chesser has always been very helpful and I'm beyond thankful to her. I've had multiple experiences with Nurse Kristen and she has went above and beyond. She always makes us feel comfortable and less stressed in the hospital. They awful excellent care and you can trust that your child will always get the best care. Thank you to the whole endocrinology department and the whole hospital.

This review is for the hospital only. No comment on outpatient or standard care offered by this organization. This is a world- class teaching hospital. But, it is a poorly run teaching hospital. The procedural care (ER/Surgery/Oncology) and nurses are top quality, and are the only reason this is not a 1 or 2 star review. The wheels fall off the bus once the operation/procedure has been completed and no one the patient care side of things post-procedure seems to talk to each other. I had forgotten this aspect of the UCSF hospital system until I had the absolute misfortune of spending 15 hours in the ER this week plus 2 days on a recovery floor. And then I remembered how completely awful my postpartum experience was with UCSF when I had my kid. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Beyond the messy lack or organization with the care protocols, the hospital is showing signs of wear and tear. Floors in patient rooms were sticky with trashed bathrooms on patient floors. Overflowing garbage in the cafeteria and the persistent odor of onions by the kitchen make this place look and smell gross. There are no private patient rooms and everyone and their mother seems to think that everyone around them wants to hear whatever social media platform or streaming show they are staring at. Clearly the majority of the patients at this hospital have ever heard the concept of headphones or volume off when using their devices. Makes for an absolutely ridiculous experience when dealing with family members recovering from procedures or when waiting in common areas. I had always assumed the airport was the worst example of humanity but it turns out the standard for nasty public behavior has been set even lower by the waiting room at this hospital. If you have the insurance and means to go to another children's facility in the Bay Area, like Lucille Packard at Stanford, it is worth the drive. Children's in Oakland is a pass for my family from now on.

Since UCSF took over this hasn't been the best experience, been taking family here for decades. Real unhappy my grandchild was sent home with undiagnosed pneumonia and fever. Doctor didn't give all necessary test , no meds and sent 4 year old home. I'm sure he's been in pain the entire time, pneumonia hurts your chest, took him back to the ER today and got all proper test and IV antibiotics, checked his blood and urine and a covid test. I'm outraged the more I come into contact with a lot of medical staff, how they don't care about certain people or nobody at all
