Lake chabot golf course is a hidden Muni gem. The course layout can bith be challenging and forgiving at the same time. Lots of elevation changes and of course that last par 6. In an era where more and more courses raise their prices for grounds that are not well maintained, chabot offers you a good time for a really good price, especially for Oakland residents.
Had a wonderful time at Lake Chabot in August 2025. The fairways and greens were in great shape, and the pace of play was fine. I hadn’t played the course since 2022. I didn’t know that the course is over 100 years old.
It’s not that long, but if the wind is blowing, it can be very challenging.
One word of caution on the par 6 18th hole. Don’t touch any balls on the fairways that don’t belong to you. The group behind yours might have some big hitters, OR, sometimes the ball just keeps rolling down the hill.
