The Chapel of the Chimes staff is amazing. They are kind, compassionate, professional and responsive. It is a beautiful place, too.

We recently had to navigate one of the hardest times in our family’s life, and Fred Schulz at Chapel of the Chimes was an absolute lifesaver.
Fred was incredibly kind, empathetic, and always on top of things whenever we needed answers. We did run into a few problem along the way—totally not Fred’s fault—but he stepped right in anyway and took care of it for us. That extra effort meant so much to my family.
I also want to give a huge shout-out to Debbie, who took care of us on the actual day of the viewing and ceremony. She was amazing and made sure everything ran smoothly.
Both Fred and Debbie were so patient, graceful, and genuinely nice to my family when we needed it most. We are so incredibly grateful for them.

Losing Someone is devastating. But it's quite unbearable when it's a younger sibling. Losing my young sister too early completely broke our family. It was the first time we actually had to figure out how to plan a funeral and didn't know what to do or where to start and Ed Brail the funeral director here felt like an extension of the family helping us plan, reminding us gently if we forgot something and showed a great amount of patience and care with our questions and indecisiveness. He was such a big help and made the process easy without any feelings of pressure so that we can focus on grieving. Once we flew to Oakland and saw the chapel we were so happy we chose Chapel of Chimes. It was the most beautiful place where you can plan your loved ones services. The architecture was so beautiful. The amount of care and attention the staff demonstrated during my family's difficult time was above and beyond, and we could not be more grateful. Thank you to the entire team for making the worst days of our lives less difficult.

Under unfortunate circumstances we had the pleasure of working with Ed who was extremely compassionate, flexible and understanding. Everything was easy to navigate with him and we didn’t have to worry too much about logistics while mourning. This is definitely one of those places where you can tell the people genuinely care about your losses loved one and your family at the time you need it the most. I also had the honor of working with Monica and may I say she was phenomenal. She made sure everything ran smooth the day of. She spoke with us like she was part of our family and took care of things no questions asked. We chose the right place for our sister. Thank you for making this difficult time seem just a little less hard. 🩷🩷

Amazing service and very professional. Ms. Nicole was very sensitive to my needs for my father's Cremation. I don't live in the city and we did everything over the phone and online. She even gave me a cellphone number to text . She always answered any concerns I had in a timely manner. Thank you 💚 again for your Amazing service.

When I say that everyone at Chapel of the Chimes were nice, courteous, and understanding, it is an understatement. From speaking with the manager Ed when my mother passed away as he orchestrated the picking up of her body and showed genuine empathy at our loss, to meeting with staff to go over the final arrangements in the historical and beautiful looking building everything was made as easy as possible for us! Sara really showed compassion as she walked us through everything! She was charismatic, charming and easy to talk to. Thank You Chapel Of The Chimes for representing your continued legacy of excellence at our time of grieving!

My mom recently passed away and I was devastated. I already knew from previous discussions with my mom that she wanted Chapel of the Chimes to take care of her wishes when the time came because my grandma (her mother) and most of our relatives on my mom’s side are here so I contacted them after she passed and from the very beginning of what turned out to be much longer than usual, due to my own financial difficulties. I initially spoke with santos, who was amazing. She was very kind and gentle with me on the phone. I was very sad and started crying when I was talking to her but she assured me my mom was in good hands and that she was in their care and understood the delay I was experiencing due to being out of state.
When I finally arrived in Calif. I was all the way out in Sacramento, which is almost 2 hrs away from them. I scheduled a time to come in to discuss the services they would be providing but I was late to that appointment due to transportation issues and they completely understood. When we arrived, we were met with the staff, Sarah and Denise. These two women were so caring and empathetic. They expressed their sincere condolences and took their time to go over everything and explain it all and answered any questions we had. I was not expecting the services to be so costly and was feeling a little worried about how I was going to pay for it. They do offer a payment plan, but not for the cremation services. I had to go ask family members I wasn’t very close with but that my mom was close with, for help, only to find that some had already passed away, while others were in nursing homes and didn’t even remember me or my mom. I was devastated. During this time, Sarah allowed our family to come in for a viewing and to say our goodbyes. I couldn’t afford this but desperately needed to see my mom before she was cremated and gone forever. Sarah did not charge us for this, even though it was a few hundred dollars, she knew I was in a financial bind and you have no idea how helpful this was. They stored my moms body in refrigeration until I could come up with all the money for cremation. They ended up having my mom there for over a month from the time of her death and I was so embarrassed that I couldnt come up with all of the money. I don’t know anyone really that has this kind of money just laying around, for me, it was a couple of month’s salary, or about 3 months of rent. I was going to have to take out a loan, that is, if I even was approved. To top it iff, I was having issues with my phone and email, my inbox was full, so I was emailing Sarah but wasn’t able to get her replies and I had some spam blocker on my phone that i was having trouble uninstalling and was silencing all calls that were not in my contacts. I called a friend and asked them to call Sarah for me because I wasn’t getting her calls and I couldn’t believe it, he called me back and told me that they were willing to work with me on the payment because my mom had been there so long and she needed to be cremated before decomposition fully set in. I won’t say what they did for me because its not my place to disclose this information but I will say that they helped me so much and saved me from a complete meltdown and financial distress! I needed this so much and words can never describe how grateful I am for Chapel of the Chimes and their staff, most notably, Sarah, for helping me during such a difficult time and I will never forget it. Thank you Sarah, Denise and Santos for everything that you do and Thank you Chapel of the Chimes for caring for my mother after she passed away. We appreciate it so very much!

My wife and I recently completed funeral and cemetery pre-planning at Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland after visiting several places around the Bay Area, and we’re very glad we chose them. Cynthia Aguirre was patient, thorough, and took the time to thoughtfully answer all of our questions throughout the process. More importantly, we felt like she genuinely cared about helping us find what felt right for our needs. We never once felt pressured or “sold to.” Cynthia and Mark Frattini also gave us a tour of the beautiful and historic Chapel of the Chimes. They made what could have been a difficult process feel comfortable and personal, and we truly appreciated the care and kindness they showed us from beginning to end.
