I’ve never had such an ugly haircut. It’s not aesthetically pleasing. The haircut ends in less than 10 minutes. Communicating with her is like not communicating with her. She just picks up the clippers and pushes them away. Her bangs are crooked and come back and she has to cut them herself. Even in China. Even if it’s a quick cut, it won’t be like this.

Got a haircut. Cut the bangs way too short, asked for a fade, didn’t get it, asked for lays/texture, didn’t get it. $15 for that. If you don’t care about hair and just want a cut then come. If you want to look aesthetic, find somewhere else

I requested thinning instead of a crew cut, and the barber lady, in order to cut the remaining four young men, gave me a crew cut very quickly and took the tip. Her technique was so rubbish, why would anyone get their hair cut here?

This stretch of Garvey Avenue in Monterey Park has a fair number of salons. May & Tri happens to be one of them. I used to frequent this business back in elementary school, before my mom decided to take haircutting duties into her own hands. To return after all these years and see the old-school interior looking more or less how I remembered brought back bits and pieces of nostalgia. Not sure if it is the same owner, but I am glad the place is still around. I came in for an emergency haircut, since I had to attend an event, my sides were growing puffy, and my mom was on vacation. The previous customer had just left when I entered, so there was no waiting. The barber gave my head a knowing look and said in Cantonese, "Quick trim?" I nodded, "Yup." She was efficient and kept the conversation to a minimum, completing in about 8 minutes. The hairstyle ended up being a buzzcut with a fade on the back and sides, suitable for the increasingly warm weather. Total was $15, an expected increase from reviews past. A solid, no-nonsense option.

Needed a clean up and my normal barber is closed on Mondays. I go by this place a lot and let's noticed a line on the side entrance. Figured I'd give it a try. After all. How bad can you mess up a clean up? Naturally there was a line but noticed the barber doing color on client. Once done he jumped to the next and I was able to see his cutting skills as this person asked for a zero fade. I figured if he could make that happen then I'm safe. Sure enough in 15 min he was done and it came out nice. I'm next! Got in the chair and just asked for a clean up and now I think I found a new barber! Not the cleanest place. Felt like I was getting a cut out of his garage and I'm good with that. I want to say his name is David based on all the other reviews. Been there for over 20 years. Has a large repeat business. Very nice man and efficient!

I went here and there was only 1 lady. She was already working on another client so I waited. When it came to my turn I showed her a picture of a 2 block hair cut style. She took 1 look and started cutting my hair. I should have known that something was wrong when she immediately started cutting off huge chunks of hair. It took her 10 mins to just completely ruin my hair. The end result did not look look even remotely close to the picture I showed. The middle of my head was longer length than the sides. My left side was longer than my right. I took my losses and just went to a different barber for a buzz cut to at least try to fix whatever was left of my hair.

Wanted to give a big shoutout to this salon/barber shop that I accidentally stumbled upon while cruising the 'Chinese 626'. Unlike other people, I have no loyalty when it comes to haircuts. This place was empty when I walked in on their lunch hour. After waiting a while for the guy to finish his lunch, he politely seated me, listened carefully to my instructions, and delivered a perfect cut exactly as prescribed in less than 10 minutes and for only $15. Many places would listen to you, then proceed to cut your hair *their* way...really pissed me off. But not this guy. Did this place win my loyalty? Only next time will tell...

If you want a fade tell him to not go too high. He's at the lower price range. Skill is good but not stylish.
