409 El Camino Real, Menlo Park“I've been training here for 6 years and I still look forward to each class. Ive done martial arts my whole life (Karate, Boxing, BJJ) and none of them are like Urban Combat. This place is focused on real life and how those arts come together with actual common sense for dealing with potential situations. The classes include fun workouts, lessons in various martial arts / weapons, and film study on real situations. Brian is an amazing teacher - hes not lecturing from the sidelines, he is right there with you showing you how its done.
If you are interested in learning actual self defense strategies separate from traditional martial arts - this is your place. Its a bay area hidden gem!
Note - this place is in the Karate studio (parking in the back).“

1350 S Mary Ave, Sunnyvale“Sunnyvale Martial Arts Academy has truly been a second home for our family. Our child began their journey at just 5 years old in the Little Dragons program under KJN Jian, and it has been amazing to watch them grow into a confident blue belt under the guidance of KJN Khang. The martial arts training here has played a huge role in building our child’s confidence while also teaching important life skills like confidence, respect, and discipline.
We love attending the annual black belt shows every year, they are inspiring, exciting, and a true celebration of the hard work the students put in. The demo team performances are always incredible, and it’s especially meaningful to see the instructors performing alongside the students, showing their passion and leadership. The academy has a close-knit, family like comunity that makes everyone feel welcome, and the large adult program really shows that this school is for all ages. We are so grateful to be part of such a supportive and positive environment and highly recommend Sunnyvale Martial Arts Academy to any family looking for more than just martial arts training. Respecfully, the Monsanto family!!!“

2134 Old Middlefield Way STE I, Mountain View“My son has been a dedicated MMA student at World Martial Arts under Coach Peter since 2021. The results have been remarkable. Coach Peter is truly an exceptional instructor who understands that martial arts is about comprehensive development.
His coaching extends far beyond techniques and sparring. He actively mentors students on vital life skills, including discipline, time management, behavior, and handling stress.
Thanks to Coach Peter and World Martial Arts, Larry has not only refined his MMA skills but has also developed into a strong, well-rounded, and good person. This facility is, without a doubt, a local hidden gem. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a high-quality martial arts education focused on both physical and personal growth.“

2124 W El Camino Real, Mountain View“I highly recommend Taekwon Kids as an amazing sports opportunity for children. It’s truly the best class my son has attended — engaging, well-structured, and led by dedicated instructors who inspire discipline, confidence, and fun all at once. We've seen real growth in both his skills and self-esteem!“
“My whole family has been going to Bay Area Martial Arts Academy for several years now and I have to say they are wonderful. So this review is definitely long overdue. Both my daughters have gained so much strength and discipline from the instructor (Mr Agoff). I love the life lessons he instills in them as well. The kids learn self defense, how to fall properly, stick work, different fighting forms, and the importance of training and hard work. They also work on strength and stamina and the belts are earned and not just given. Definitely lucky that we have this local gem so close to home. Also nice that my husband goes there too so the three of them can train together.“
3:30 - 8:30PM
380 Convention Way, Redwood City“I cannot say enough of how fantastic Master Curry and Ms. Kim are with their students. Not the most important, but Precision has a junior olympic team who went to Korea to train, and Master Curry is one of the coaches for the junior olympic team. That should be enough to join Precision. However, to parents who are looking for more than TKD... They are the most positive motivators instructors you can ask for. Both of our boys were part of the Precision family. And that's what Precision is, a family. Master Curry and Ms Kim do not just inspire TKD training; they also instill confidence, teach respect to oneself and others, and helps you to be the best you can be.Master Curry would have inspirational talks with the students about what who they want to be, and how to work towards that goal. They are so much more than TKD instructors, they are your children's life coaches.Master Curry and Ms. Kim will be a great addition to your family when you join Precision TKD.“

1924 Plymouth St, Mountain View“I trained here when I was just a few years into my martial arts journey. This is an amazing Dojo and Shihan Robert Nadeau is a treasure, very few people still train at his age. Not only was he Morihei Ueshiba's lead student, he's also an excellent teacher. Highly recommend this school!“

I especially appreciate the heavy focus on fundamentals and the rich history of the art. It’s a great environment for anyone serious about learning Wing Chun from the ground up. Highly recommend!“

2515 S El Camino Real, San Mateo“Over the last few months, my two daughters have been coming to this place on nearly every weekday. During their sessions, I usually hang out in the waiting area, observing how the students are not just mastering Taekwondo, but also developing a range of other valuable abilities and positive mindsets. It's clear that Master Park is an exceptional instructor. I have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone, regardless of age or skill level.“

2699 Spring St, Redwood City“Love Coach McCreadie, he is extremely hands on and creates a fun learning environment for the kids, teens and adults. He also brings Bay Area culture into a traditional style, blending Eastern and Western philosophies. This dojo also ties into Adrenaline Worldwide, a group that works with Hollywood studios to include choreographed martial arts and stunts. The dojo is clean spacious and welcoming. One thing is that the name has changed to Afro Bushido Academy just in case you are looking for more information.“

816 Warrington Ave, Redwood City“Let me preface anything I say here with the fact that I am neither a natural athlete, nor have I ever liked working out. With that said, the Tosetti team has somehow gotten me to a point in my life where I can’t imagine a life NOT doing squats, punching bags, wrestling, and swinging swords. It’s probably high time I left a review, since I’ve been going here since September 2018.Fitness classes are like a giant game of “Simon Says.” Coach Melissa and Coach Geralyn are amazing, and some of the warmest, most welcoming people I’ve ever met. Their patience and encouragement when I started these classes went a long way to bolster my confidence. Again, I’ve never liked working out, so I also had no idea what I was doing, and being told what to do did me a whole lot of good. They were happy to start me off with baby steps and add challenges as I progressed, and are always ready to show you alternatives if you have certain limitations, such as joint issues.Wrestling classes—when I say I knew nothing about working out, I knew even less about wrestling. I actually started these classes because of the sword classes (that’s a long story). Coach Paul officially teaches these (with the occasional supervised wrestling sessions from… another Paul), and has somehow shown me, at 5’4’’, how to throw people who tower over me. The classes tend to be a mix of all levels of experience and weight classes, and Coach Paul will often cater his lesson that day to the needs of the class demographic. It’s a whole lot of fun.Lastly, sword classes are what I joined Tosetti Institute for (and since I joined, they’ve added a polearms class to the weapons repertoire). These are not the kind of sword fighting classes that usually come to mind in the modern era, such as the foil fencing you see in the Olympics. We’re talking historical martial arts here, with swords in a variety of sizes and styles—and Coach Paul definitely emphasizes the martial part of the art. This was EXACTLY what I was looking for. He draws form historical texts, but he’s a fighter first and foremost, and that’s what I think really sets his teaching off from other historical fencing schools—if you want to learn how to fight, he will teach you how to fight. I’m going to do a bit of bragging here, but some of our sword fighters are competition-winners (I’m not among them—I’m actually mediocre at best, but I love being able to learn from these awesome people).Really, I could go on and on about how much I love Tosetti Institute, and the people there. This was unfortunately the shortest I could keep this review while doing them any sort of justice, and it’s only an inkling of how much I love this place. Even sadder is the fact that I’ll be moving out of the area in the spring/ summer—of all the things in the SF Bay Area, Tosetti Institute and the people I’ve met there are what I will miss the most, and I don’t think I’ll ever find their equal.“

Cubberley Community Center, 4000 Middlefield Rd J7, Palo Alto“This is a great school and I can't say enough good things about it. Both of our kids loved the program and looked forward to going every week. Classes are held Mon-Fri with sparring on Fridays. The instructors do a great job teaching, helping to build confidence, and building community amongst the students and parents. The regular BBQs were also a great touch. This school had a noticeable impact on our kids and I've recommended it to numerous friends who were looking for a nearby TKD school.“

347 1st St, Los Altos“Excellent martial arts school. Previously, I had attended other martial arts schools but didn't find much interest in them, but this school got me interested in martial arts. It motivated me to work toward my black belt and achieve great things.“

3164 Bay Rd, Redwood City“I've been involved in aikido close to fifteen years and have trained at several dojos. This dojo is world-class. All skill levels are welcome and accommodated. The instructors and senior students are great people and serious, lifetime students of the art. (Note that aikido might not make you a better MMA fighter, but it will quiet and focus your mind like nothing else. It will help you to be a better human.)“
5 - 8:40PM
31832 Alvarado Blvd, Union City“I was a former student here a long time ago (started in 1st or 2nd grade, ended in 8th grade, which was in 2017). I went all the way to black belt 1st degree but couldn't go up to 2nd since I had to move.
I feel like I've practically grown up there. I remember learning so many different forms and techniques from Master Park and Grand Master Choi, as well as so many of the other assistant trainers. It's been a while, but now I do remember training with the handheld targets, the handheld and standing bags (which I often wasn't the best at hitting hard), and even having so much fun while sparring even though I wasn't always that good at it.
Going to Choi's Martial Arts really helped me grow as a person and build up aspects like my fitness and flexibility (although flexibility still needs a ton of work). I can honestly say that I'm so grateful that my parents made me keep showing up, and I'm really grateful to everyone there, both the staff and other students, for so many incredible moments and memories.
To Grand Master Choi, Master Park, and whoever else was there, I hope you are all doing well. Thank you for really shaping my younger years and help me grow to become who I am today.“
