Optimist Youth Homes & Family Services has been helping children for over a century. It provides wraparound programs, mental health services, foster care, housing, and educational resources so youth can overcome trauma and succeed. Some former residents from the late 2000s recall a program that was sometimes reckless, with difficult experiences regarding medication and staff. However, others report that it made a positive difference in their lives, offering a lot to those who wanted it and helping them live productively. Many express gratitude for the care and support they received from the dedicated staff.
I was there back in like 2008 or2009 I believe, was in G dorm then A dorm , it was cool but the program at the time was reckless, out me on trazidone cause I would get mad at how the school taught us at a 5th grade level , would get a write up for no reason when they would prescribe me Seroquel but say I was on drugs , sent me to the mental hospital cause I spoke out on the abuse certain staff did but hey hope it changed
I lived there when I was a kid ,optimist boys home at the time made a difference in my life I have been living a productive ever since I will always be grateful to the staff Steve ,my counselor Miguel and everyone else Thanks forever !!!!
I remember going here as a young kid with my adoptive family for the Christmas celebration thing they do every year. It was so much fun and the staff were nice! They always gave my siblings and I nice gifts 🎁😬 plus, they had a In-N-Out truck cater one year- I devoured so many burgers that day haha
This is a nice place, grateful that this was the only place that made me forget about my hard times while going through the system.
