Dear Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids Team,
I’m writing to share a concern about my recent visit to your Laguna Niguel location (30211 Golden Lantern) on May 2, 2026. We’ve been regular customers for quite some time, which is why this experience was especially disappointing.
I had booked a Buzz Cut ($30) for my son and received confirmation for the same. However, prior to the appointment, the booking was automatically changed to a Boys Cut (wash, cut, and blow dry – $40) without my knowledge or consent.
During the visit, no hair wash service was provided. When I raised this concern at the reception, I was met with a dismissive and unhelpful response. I was told that if I wanted a hair wash, I should come back another time. Additionally, when we pointed out that a Buzz Cut is still listed on your website, the response suggested that it’s “just a trimmer service” and not something they prefer to offer, which was confusing and unprofessional. To be clear, this is not about the price difference. What has been bothering me is the lack of transparency and the feeling of being misled. As a regular customer, this experience felt unfair and poorly handled.

As I cant reply to your comment so I am posting my reply here: Thank you for your response, but I’d like to clarify a few important points.
The decision to change the service from a Buzz Cut to a Boys Cut was made before we arrived, without my knowledge or consent. I have a screenshot confirming this. This is the core issue—booked services should not be altered without customer approval.
This is not about time or preference; it’s about transparency and choice. Deciding on behalf of a customer—especially when it affects pricing—is not appropriate.
Regarding the hair wash: it was not provided during the appointment. When I raised this concern, I was told I could come back later if I wanted one. The comment made to me was along the lines of, “Oh, you want a head wash? You can come back and we’ll do it.” That is very different from offering and declining a service during the visit.
You’ve mentioned recordings in responses to other customers. If that’s the case, I would encourage you to review this interaction as well.
To keep it simple: if I book a basic service, I expect to receive that service—not an upgraded version chosen for me.
This could have been resolved with a straightforward acknowledgment. Instead, the response feels dismissive and shifts responsibility onto the customer.
I’ll be escalating this further and will include the booking change evidence.

Ann is possibly the best hairstylist around, definitely our favorite and would (and do) recommend to anyone of any age. We started bringing our 3 yr old, who doesn’t sit still so usually gets not so great results, and Ann was able to work around his movement and offered him a “lightning mcqueen” race stripe which he wanted and got tons of compliments for. It’s now a year later and he went from screaming/crying during haircuts to being excited to come in. Recently I decided to get my haircut with my son because it’s a good deal and figured it would be good to set an example on how to sit still for a haircut, I have never gotten so many compliments on a haircut! Ann is now my go-to stylist, her attention to detail is amazing, I honestly would come back for a haircut even if I didn’t have kids that needed a cut too, I’ve paid twice as much for haircuts that weren’t half as good as Ann’s and Ann gave me a better beard trim than a barber!

It was our daughter’s first haircut, and Samantha did a fantastic job. Her hair looks amazing! Our daughter was really nervous about getting a haircut, but Samantha made the entire experience so pleasant and comfortable. She was patient, kind, and knew exactly how to put her at ease.
By the end of the appointment, our daughter left smiling and absolutely loving her haircut. We couldn’t have asked for a better first experience. I would highly recommend Samantha at this location!

What a great experience. It was my daughter's first haircut at 5 years old. She was scared at first and this place just removed all those fears. The staff are extremely friendly and made her feel so special. Thank you so much and we will be back!

We’ve been customers of this store for ~18 months. Service has always been good until today — my daughter’s long hair was cut dry, in less than 10 mins, and came out very uneven. On previous visits, it was washed, cut properly, and then braided or styled. None of those things happened today. I will be taking her to my stylist tomorrow to have it done properly. I understand when there are other people waiting, the haircut needs to be done quickly, but it still needs to be done properly. The salon owner offered for us to come back and have it fixed, which I appreciated, but after spending > $35 for the uneven cut, I’m done.

We’ve gone to a two different stylists for our 2 year old & he has always loved going as he gets to sit in a special car, watch a show of his choice, & is gifted a balloon at the end! We love Sharkeys!

I couldn’t imagine cutting kid’s hair! A was so patient and she did a great job keeping my son’s head straight while he was having a blast playing video games. He refuses to go anywhere else because he gets to play Minecraft while getting his haircut! This was our 3rd time and we still get the same consistent great haircut!
