“I consulted Mortimer Smythe Designs twice for website design. I am pleased with both the organizational website and the personal one. In 2012, I helped my nonprofit organization find a website designer to upgrade our stodgy, homemade site. We considered 20 candidates and studied 6 proposals. We hired MSD because they submitted the best proposal and quoted the best price. To further lower the price, my nonprofit group eliminated a few features and provided a sandbox (testing and staging environment for web development). We didn't have photographs of ourselves to enliven the site, so Ethan Jones used public domain art. For the Home Page, Ethan offered two designs and we chose the one we thought conveyed our identity at first glance. The finished website is elegant and easy to navigate. The personal website is for a long-deceased relative who worked in the film industry. I wanted an esthetic site befitting an artistic man. Ethan, Holly Hine and their team surpassed my suggestions with fresh ideas of their own. In addition, they provided technical features I wanted, such as clicking on a graphic and getting a synopsis and clicking on a photo and getting a magnification. They always responded promptly to my e-mails and phone messages. I highly recommend them.“

“Needing a website redesign of my ancient 2008 website, I "interviewed" a few web designers and when I spoke with Skip, I knew immediately he was "the one." He was so personable on the phone and his communication and design approach is very straight-forward (other designers required me to engage in a creative "idea board" process with them (using an app of their choosing) and only send them content through certain platforms, and other requirements that, in my opinion, would just prolong the project and require more of my time and effort. This isn't therapy. I knew what I wanted, I had the content all prepared and I needed to delegate the project, while certainly providing guidance on design template and such. Skip was SO easy to work with and I was able to send him content in whatever form I wished (email attachments with documents in any word processing I wished). This is the hallmark of a great service provider: they make it easy on YOU, the customer, and don't force you to fit their mold. Also, his rate was VERY favorable (half the cost of the "idea board" designer - and he has more than twice the experience - and he completed it in 1/3 of the time the other designers quoted me). I tend to be very detail-oriented and directive, and Skip was nothing but open minded and cheerful every time we communicated. His work is great quality, timely, and cost efficient. I highly recommend Shadowbend Studios and you should not hesitate to hire Skip and Sandy to build or redesign your website.“
