About OC Family Martial Arts
OC Family Martial Arts is highly praised for its caring and dedicated instructors, including Master Kim and other talented teachers. The studio offers a supportive environment where students can learn Taekwondo, a traditional Korean martial art focused on self-defense, with a history spanning over 2,000 years. Members appreciate the structured system that requires twenty classes to earn the next belt, encouraging consistent effort. The studio is also known for its community atmosphere, with posters highlighting upcoming tournaments. Parents have seen positive changes in their children’s balance, motor skills, and social skills through training. The instructors demonstrate patience, respect, and humility, inspiring students to learn and imitate their mentors. Overall, OC Family Martial Arts is a place where kids are mentored with kindness and skill.
My daughter has been a student for 7 years, we started in the Ladera Ranch location , and have stayed with Master Kim at his Irvine studio. Wonderful instructors that truly care about the kids .
Great place to exercise, as a member there they have a poster inside showing where and when is the next big tournament near the location. They recently added a system where you have to do twenty classes to get their next belt which is better than the student just showing up for one week and getting the next belt.
It's a nice place for excerising and self defense, but if you want to learn real Martial Arts this place is not to go. The old school was named ATA, which stands for American Taekwondo Association, but Taekwondo originated from South Korea. They didn't teach real forms or real kicks, they just tried to fake it, the tournaments are all in-school tournaments. As well as their belts, they claim there is a camo belt, but there is no such thing. As a Black belt from another school, I can cofidently say that if you just want to exercise and have fun, this is a good place to go, but if you want to learn real self defense, find another school.
